It didn't take long for the impact of late night talk show host Stephen Colbert's entry into the presidential race to be felt. Sam Brownback withdrew his candidacy within hours, and no doubt other also-rans have been put, as Mr. Colbert is fond of saying, "on notice."

As Wonkette reports, even before Mr. Colbert's entry into the fray, odds-makers had deemed him a better shot at reaching the highest office in the land than Mike Gravel and Tom Tancredo. Now that he has officially joined the hunt, look for Colbert's odds to improve at a steady clip, and don't be surprised if the "Colbert Effect" continues to yield casualties to the overcrowded filed.
