Whatever Happened to Socks and Buddy?

This Fox news article follows up on the first dog and cat of the nineties. Must be a slow news day. Was Socks the Cat just a nifty PR object or very much part of the Clinton Family?

As the "first pet" of the Clinton era, Socks, the White House cat, allowed "chilly" Hillary Clinton to show a caring, maternal side as well as bringing joy to her daughter Chelsea. So where is Socks today?

Once the presidency was over, there was no room for Socks anymore. After years of loyal service at the White House, the black and white cat was dumped on Betty Currie, Bill Clinton's personal secretary, who also had an embarrassing clean-up role in the saga of his relationship with intern Monica Lewinsky.
Well, it doesn't look as if Hillary was that much of a cat person, although I do remember that Bill loved Buddy, that dog went everywhere with him. Still if this is the worst thing they can dig up on Hillary she doesn't have that much to worry about.

The question is, whether she's been humanized enough for the 2008 run, or if she needs to get another cat.
