Swift Kids: The Truth Hurts

Since we're a good 10 months away from political bombshell season -- when incriminating photos, accusations and other forms of "truth" hit the airwaves -- the humorists at 23/6, an offshoot of The Huffington Post, have taken advantage of the gap with a series of videos that satirize "swift-boating," a term inspired by 2004's Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

23/6's version? The "Swift Kids for Truth," who ruthlessly expose the absurdity of these shameless and baseless smear campaigns. And man do they make Barack Obama's name sound funny:

But that's not all.

In two other videos, those rascally Swift Kids accuse Hillary Clinton of stealing rugs from the White House and claim John Edwards owns a lavish, 26,000 square-foot air conditioner. And they sure know how to kick a man when he's down: At the end of the Edwards clip, a 4-year-old girl shakes her head and says, "John Edwards is a total loser," while in the other a preteen boy groans, "Hillary Clinton, I can't believe you." Watch below:

Now, listen. Here at Political Machine, we're serious about politics. We may laugh a little at 'Obama Girl' and 'Romney Girl' and the 'Thompson Boys,' but deep inside we're constantly ruminating on what it all really means. Will we, as Democrats and Republicans and Independents (and people who vote for Frank Zappa), say anything to get our candidate elected? Does hearing our own horrible lies coming straight from the mouths of babes, so to speak, result in the dull and bitter realization of our own hypocrisy?

Or, maybe it's simpler than that. Maybe it's not about hypocrisy at all. I mean, this is the Swift Kids, people! Telling it like it is.
