The NR has it right.

Romney is not perfect but none of the other candidates can put their political records, ideas for the future, nor character beside Romneys and not look flat.

As National Review said, Romney is the most conservative candidate who can also beat Hillary. Huckabee and Giuliani are liberal and Fred is dead. Romney will definitely be getting my vote!

MITT ROMNEY is the only honest politician on either party. What some see as flip floping is changing his mind aftr learning facts that merit change. He does not fit the mold of our politics where no matter how wrong you have been, you keep doing the same thing.

He has my vote. An honest polotician is something that has been missing from government since Lincoln.

Finally some intelligence. Of course, Huckabee the
farmer and preacher can never be the GOP Candidate,
and certainly could NEVER, EVER beat Hillary. We're not looking to have a Preacher to be the President of the United States, and that's what Huckabee is, a conservative PREACHER! Can you imagine such a disaster having a "good ol Preacher" as the GOP Candidate????? The only GOP candidate that can win
the GOP nomination is Mitt Romney. He's strong on family values, immigration issues, foreign policy issues, economic and tax issues and security issues re: protecting America. He has a stong, proven record of leadership while Governor of Massachusetts and can lead this country in the right direction. If the GOP splits their nomination between Huckabee (and let's give all illegal immigrants great benefits) and Guiliani ( also let's give illegals great benefits
and his immoral personal, professional and public life
that are facts, ie having a Mistress while Mayor of NYC and married while publicly parading the Mistress around to events, having taxpayers PAY for the Mistress to be protected by NYC security police, and
having the taxpayers pay for the hotel/meals of the security police team while Guilani visited the Mistress at her condo in the Hamptons on the weekends for their secret reondevous, hiring his old buddy the
ousted pedophile priest at his firm, who is currently working there, and Bernie Kerik who was mentored and brought into public life as Police Commissioner by Guiliani and is now indicted for corruption. Guiliani aslo brought Kerik in to his firm as a partner. Guiliani has terrible judgments and decisions on all levels.) These two losers cannot ever be the GOP nomination, and they could never beat Hillary. Mitt Romney is the only GOP candidate that can win the Presidency of the United States, and the only GOP
candidate that has the leadership, ability, morality
and a proven record as Governor that he can bring this Nation in the right direction.

Why would America settle for Mitt? We have a choice and the freedom to choose so remember we have a lot to loose here and 4 years is a long time!

Mitt is the obvious and ONLY choice for the country to survive the Chinese, et al. But he will be facing GORE in the finals of this crazy election and THAT will make it very, very close.

It would seem that the NR thinks that the important thing is to win against the democrats even if the candidate flip-flops and is tied to the Mormon Church.
I would rather not see this Romney as president. His
speech about how he does not take orders from the Mormon church is hogwash. The mission of the Mormon church has always been to take over the government of the United States. Read their history. Brigham Young killed those who differed with the church and even today, the leaders order their people to obey without hesitation, excommunicating any dare to question the church. To believe that Mr. Romney would not follow the churches directives is ridiculous.
He believes he will be a gpd someday, populating another planet where he rules. Read ONE NATION UNDER GODS or MORMON AMERICA and educate yourselves about this cult. He is merely a puppet for the Mormon church.

It would seeem that the NR is interested in any candidate who they deem able to beat the Democratic nominee even if that person is someone who flipflops on the issues and demonstrates he is not capable of making good decisions. I for one am convinced that Romney would be a very poor choice for the highest office in America. His speech about making his own decisions and not following his Mormon church is hogwash. Educate yourself on the history of the Mormon church and see for yourself that they have demanded supreme allegience to the church, excommmunicating those who dare to oppose it. Brigham Young ordered killings of those who did not follow his church, and the ultimate goal of the Mormon church has always been dominance of the government of the United States and the world.
Mr. Romney believes that he will one day be the god of his own planet, populating it and ruling it. What kind of belief is that? Read ONE NATION UNDER GODS or MORMON AMERICA and educate yourselves on what this cult believes and how they intend to dominate the world. If you think he will not follow the church's directive, you are sorely mistaken.

hey wiseup1, you gotta get your facts straight: there is a difference between being a Mormon and having personal beliefs that reflect that and allowing those personal beliefs to run the Presidential office. being excommunicated is not new to churches, esp the Catholic church, and how many presidents have we had that have come from a Jesuit background?! where Mitt believes he will go after he dies, or if he will rule a planet or not is NOT pertinent to the election, and if you want to make it an issue, you might as well be voting for "god made me do it" Huckabee. im not saying that i would vote for either candidate, but if you are going to take a personal blow to any candidate, at least get your info right. and if you are going to be voting based on those standards, i dread who you would actually vote for, considering the rest of the GOP candidates...

Do not believe all you read about us. Ask a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints about their faith. Not someone that has never been in a sacrament meeting or taken a missionary lesson. Only the uneducated attack the way you people are.

I find it very interesting that the article never mentions presidential hopeful Ron Paul. It talks about Romney being the best by simple process of elimination, but they forgot to match him up against Ron Paul's flawless fiscally conservative voting record. Ron Paul has never voted to raise taxes, increase the power of the executive branch, provides substantial amounts of legislation each year to Congress, and stands for the return of personal liberties and ENDING THE WAR. He is the only republican candidate that would end the war. So next time you do an article, make sure you match up your candidate against every single other before you make your choice. After all, if Mitt is that good, what do you have to fear in telling everyone Ron Paul's views?

The contrast was against the front runners. Ron Paul was not excluded. He is just not a front runner in contributions nor polls. I get that Ron Paul fanatics want to see him in every article and injected into every subject but if you look there have been plenty of articles solely on Ron Paul @the Political Machine.

You are seriously misinformed when you state that Ron Paul is not a front runner due to his fundraising. He currently has more money on hand than any other republican candidate this term, and just submitted 20,000 signatures to the Virginia ballot (Which I might add is 5,000 more than Mitt collected, and 10,000 more than necessary.) But to the point of excluding someone based on their standing in "polls", you cannot simply eliminate them when you are trying to decide the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! What is the logic behind that? You should be widely researched and choose your candidate based upon their track record and what they stand for, not their standing in these artificial polls.

So, in the big picture the numbers speak for themselves as to who the front runners are.

I really could not speak to any ballot. I will say a signature on a ballot will not finance a campaign nor will it assure a victory with 20,000 votes- if that info is even accurate.

No one has eliminated him as a candidate…although many of us would be in full support of locking him in a closet until next year so our ears would not catch fire every time we are made to listen to him at the debates. Anyway, if you flip back through the articles there are plenty of Ron Paul articles, blogs, etc. I don’t call that exclusion. Ron Paul has had a podium at every debate. I don’t call that exclusion. Say what your problem really is…..you want Ron Paul to be the subject of every article, blog, etc. This is proven when every single blog devoted to other candidates is infiltrated with little robotic posts “Ron Paul in 08!!!” I have researched all the candidates extensively and I have two people I would NEVER vote for Ron Paul is #1 with Huckabee coming in @ #2.

This is a story about Romney. However, if you insist on making it about Ron Paul, chew on this:

1: I have a handicapped child that can not walk, talk, and is blind. Ron Paul SEEKS to abolish the SSI system and Medicaid that my child depends upon to live. I am a nurse, not Donald Trump. Ex: My child has had two fresh muscle biopsies in a state 1500 miles away. Each test cost 50K for the test alone. If not for SSI and Medicaid this would be impossible. This is just one week of her 3 yrs of tests. Ron Pauls answer to turn this problem over to the states is absurd. The states can not handle this burden nor could anyone make them adopt a program to care for the handicapped, lame, blind, indigent, etc. I would be a fool to vote for him considering this one reason alone.I will continue anyway.

2: Ron Paul wants to close 750 military bases and bring all of those troops to US soil. Need I say Pearl Harbor???? Put all the military in a small spec of the earth like US soil and any sophisticated enemy destroy large chunks in one fowl swoop. GET IT: You put all your chickens in one basket and the wolf takes em all in one bite.

3: Ron Paul would cut and run from the war. I want an expedient but victorious end. The whys and hows we got in do not matter. The only thing we can do is look to the future and leaving innocent lives (Bush vowed to protect) to get slaughtered if we leave the wrong way is reason enough to ensure stability. 

4: Anyone who wants to make a friend in Cuba, is not my president.

5: Label him an isolationist or non interventionist….it doesn’t matter to me. The results are to same.

6: Ron Paul lives in a box called the US Constitution. The constitution is not to end all to everything. Else there would not be amendments. Many things have changed since this country was founded and many problems exist that I fear our forefathers never foresaw. We need someone who abides laws of the land but does not have blinders on to world.

Now, I could go on and on but it would really be pointless. I am sure you will reply to the above with the usual fluff: I just don’t understand, Ron Paul will save the world, Ron paul cares, the war is unconstitutional, the gov will collapse unless Ron Paul saves it, or the tried and true Ron Paul in 08!!! etc… So, I say in advance stop being baited by “no taxes” (we all know that is Ron Pauls only appeal) . It really will not matter if you don’t pay taxes when you don’t have a job from Pauls “I“, get into an accident where you are left paraplegic but the gov isn’t there for SSI and Medicaid, or get blow up because of a weak military.

It saddens me to read your post, because it is just in line with what all the neocons preach. So close minded and gun ho about taking action against everyone. This world will never be a peaceful place if a president with your views takes office. The terrorism will not stop, the economy WILL crash( mark my words if we continue this war), and you will be a part of bringing forth economic turmoil on the future of your children. Maybe I am the close minded one, but it makes no sense to me why this war is so popular to the American people that would vote for any of these republican candidates. There is too much evidence that tells us why terrorism happens (because we are constantly in the middle east) yet no one ever absorbs it. I respect your ideas and thoughts, but I simply cannot except them because of the result they have had on our nation and our world.
