Senator Chris Dodd has kept his word and once again stopped our Congress' attempt to give retroactive immunity to telecommunications companies for their involvement in spying on U.S. citizens. Dodd made a pledge to oppose immunity in October, and despite criticism that he was simply engaging in political grandstanding, he has proven true to his word.
Republican or Democrat, I know of no ordinary people who support giving retroactive immunity to the telecomms, but in case you don't know what's wrong about it, read this. What Dodd has accomplished today protects us all, and he did it despite opposition from both parties. Take that, Harry Reid!

This is the moment that the filibuster was made for, when an action that is about to occur so offends the conscience, or so demonstrably damages our Constitution, that a line must be drawn against the temporary stewards of our liberty.
Chris Dodd earned my vote in October when he made that promise, and he made his first payment on it tonight. Here again is Dodd's line in the sand.
