A weird quirk of the Democratic side of the Iowa caucuses is that the participants who choose a candidate who gets less than 15% change their votes and go for a second choice. Which means that participants who vote for Dennis Kucinich, or Biden, Dodd, Richardson, etc. could all end up voting for Obama, Clinton or Edwards. The one they settle on as a second choice may well be the ultimate winner as a result.
And the NY Post (no fan of Hillary's to be sure) reports that Hillary is not the second choice of anyone.
Of the other Democrats who plan to caucus tomorrow and vote for other candidates, Clinton is the second choice of just 15 percent, according to a new poll.
Barack Obama is the second choice of 22 percent and John Edwards is the second choice of 30 percent of Iowa Democrats, according to the Reuters poll.
And now Dennis K is telling his folks to go for Obama. There's not many of them, but they are passionate and in a very close race, it could tip the balance. The problem for Hillary is that while she is respected and seen as the strongest candidate, she is not well liked or trusted. Obama and Edwards more accurately represent the heart of the Democratic party, while HIllary represents cold calculated politics of winning.
Ultimately Hillary will win, but there are many who wish otherwise.
