When Fred Attacks

There are two candidates I have to wonder about. Rudy Giuliani's betting it all on the big states and Fred Thompson semi-comatose candidacy.

I can see that Rudy has plenty of money packed away for the big states and by keeping a low-profile until Florida and February 5, 2008 he isn't exactly under a ton of scrutiny at the moment. It's just my opinion, but isn't it kind of equal to running a negative campaign? People ARE paying attention today no matter how the media tries to shape the race.

Fred Thompson is just too laid-back or something. I can't quite figure it out. Sure, being around and chiming in against Huckabee does sort of seem like doing McCain's bidding in a way. But, really what is to be gained from that? The illusion that McCain can now stay above the fray perhaps.

Maybe he has his sights set lower than being President of the United States? He has sort of wound up being boring and looking bored most of the time. Maybe he thinks that is "Presidential" in some way. Or, maybe he wants the voters to come to him? I don't get it. The more I read about him, the less I understand him.

Well if you look at the polling trends in SC from the summer, it's pretty clear that Fred's fall coincided with Huck's rise. So it makes sense to get that back.

Also, RCP's rolling average has Huck in the lead, not McCain, in SC. The two latest do have McCain in the lead, but since they came out onWed. Jan. 9, it's fair to say that Fred may not have had time to flex to attacking McCain after being prepped to go after Huckabee.

I just voted my absentee ballot in SC. I am a Fred Thompson person but will settle for whoever can beat Hillary/Obama. Huckabee scares me. I think McCain will take SC but I think Fred will have a decent showing.

Supporters of Mr. Thompson are hanging in there because he is the only candidate that reflects true conservative views. Are we worried that he isn’t showing better in the poll? –Of Course! However, the gap between Fred and the rest of the more talked about pack is huge. On National Security, Taxes, Entitlements, Federalism, and Immigration, Fred Thompson takes the most realistic approach. At the end of the day, he is still the guy who best represents our view of the better direction for America.
