The headline is a reference to box office hit "I Am Legend", modified slightly to illustrate the political landscape that Hillary Clinton may soon find herself inhabiting; a desolate, post-plague wasteland populated only by soulless, bloodthirsty ghouls.
While Clinton currently leads in most Democratic primary polls, Barack Obama consistently outpolls Hillary in head-to-head polling against the GOP frontrunners, and has performed well with independent voters. Until recently, this has been largely academic to the Clinton campaign, since it doesn't matter how pretty your dress is if you aren't invited to the dance.
However, there is a gathering backlash on several fronts in the Democratic Party that could leave Hillary out in the cold before long. It seems to have started this past weekend with the endorsement of Barack Obama by Caroline Kennedy. Does Hillary have what it takes to weather this storm? What is at the root of this disaffect? Al Sharpton hits the nail on the head. Politico reports that the Democratic political elite, led by Ted Kennedy, is deserting Hillary Clinton:
Washington's liberal establishment - members of Congress, fundraisers and commentators - has coalesced around the view that Bill Clinton is soiling his legacy and wounding Hillary Rodham Clinton's prospects as he rambles around the country in a peevish, piece-of-my-mind monologue ostensibly devoted to helping her win the Democratic nomination.
This is not a good sign for someone who has, until now, been seen as the establishment candidate. Meanwhile, Ralph Nader is leading the charge of the old-school tin foil wing with a photon torpedo of an email to his supporters that piles on the Clinton fatigue.
For Bill and Hillary Clinton, the ultimate American dream is eight more years. Yet how do you think they would react to having dozens of partisans at their rallies sporting large signs calling for EIGHT MORE YEARS, EIGHT MORE YEARS?
Don't you have the feeling that they would cringe at such public displays of their fervent ambition which the New York Times described as a "truly two-for-the-price-of-one" presidential race? It might remind voters to remember or examine the real Clinton record in that peaceful decade of missed opportunities and not be swayed by the sugarcoating version that the glib former president emits at many campaign stops.
To be sure, this has been coming on for several weeks, but it seems as if Caroline Kennedy's invocation of JFK in her endorsement of Obama has given traditional Democrats "permission" to desert the Clintons. Without the establishment or the diehard liberals who worship Nader, who is left for Hillary?
'Tommy Christopher is the creator of "The Jung Jurks", a "guerilla talk show on the Youtube".' Kinda says it all about this person's qualifications to be offering any kind of "journalistic" viewpoints on...well ANYTHING, let alone a campaign as important as this...he follows no journalistic standards of professional ethics, is blatantly biased in his reports and seems to believe that his services are somehow valuable...appears to me to be just one of those poorly disguised, bad-loser, bloggers who badmouths anyone he doesn't personally like with no regard for objective journalism whatsoever, in an attempt to sway the opinions of the ill informed sheep of America...no shepherd of truth, fact, or integrity there...just herd the poor blind beasts in any direction someone signing your paycheck tells you to tell them to go, and make sure to make the "enemy" look as bad as possible as you do it! right up there with Ann Coulter and what's his name, the illegal drug buyer who gets to go back on the air and spout HIS bologna...Limbull? Gives this amazing technology a REALLY Enquire-esque image as a "source of information" Internet servers beware...ALL of America is not as stupid as those you seem to be targetting! And the more stories we get from bat-boy and the alien reincarnation of Christ from Venezuela, the more we LAUGH at your ability to provide reliable information! Tiny Tim Christopher, otherwise known as Tom WHO, is expendible to be sure and the least of our worries because he will fade, pass, but having Mr. Bush's daughter helming some of the Internet's information (at AOL at least) is getting a LITTLE TOO OBVIOUS for MANY of your subscribers!!!
I wanted to respond, because I want to make it clear, as I have in many of my articles, that I am not anti-Clinton, and have defended Hillary vigorously when she has been treated unfairly. John, I welcome your disagreement with the substance of my piece, which you don't really get into, and I won't argue with you if you think I'm a lousy writer, although I'd ask you to be fair in return and read more than one story. What I do have a problem with is your attack on my integrity and journalistic ethics.
Whether you agree with me or not, everything in my story is supported by fact. If you want to provide support for your opinion, go for it. The opening paragraph is, or should be, obviously satirical.
John, I take great pride in my journalistic ethics. Objectivity does not mean neutrality. It means that I give all of the available facts, and provide my analysis, and support for that analysis. I make no secret of my point of view, but nobody owns me.
On the subject of journalistic ethics, when I was assigned a story about a dubious anti-Hillary story on "Drudge", I wrote the story from a skeptical angle, (because if I didn't write it, someone else would have anyway) and I followed up by actually contacting the campaigns and getting the facts.
I agree, I have no more credentials to write than you do. That's the point. You and I are going to decide the fate of this country. We'll do a better job of it if we're not attacking each other.
Get over it tom most people don't give a crap what you say or a couple of kennedy's..Hillary just took Florida even though no delegates.. get the momentum now Obama LOL LoL

The kennedy's supporting Obama, especially is daughter, is not John F. Kennedy, and how can you compare anyone with him? John is in a league of his own, Obama can't compare with him, now or ever!

I am so impressed with McCain. I hope he takes it all the way. As far as Hillary goes I think they had there turn and blew it. As far a Kennedy goes on endorsing them it means nothing to me as a Massachusetts resident. They talk big and throw there weight around and have been for years. Endorsements also mean nothing to me. I don't need anyone telling me who I need to vote for. I think I can speak for many Mass people. The Kennedy's are full of themselves. Just my personal opinion.
Go Pats!
Congrats to McCain for doing a good job in Florida. I didn't think he would win there. I'm impressed!

Endorsements mean nothing to me. I think many people feel the same way I do. I come from Mass and I have no use for the Kennedy's. Especially Ted Kennedy. They throw there weight around line there is nobody like them. He destroyed his ex wife. And lets NEVER forget Chappaquidick. NEVER!
I am thrilled McCain took Florida and he is going to get my vote.
Hillary sorry but I find anyone who can ignore there husbands infidelity for thirty years is weak. They had there chance and I think people have had enough of them. Just my personal opinion.
Go Pats!

In politics, there no permanent friend only frienship of convenience. Ted chooses to endorse Obama because it is convenient. Once Obama starts losing in the larger states, the same political establishment will be looking for cover. In the end, the Democrats will be a big happy family in Denver. By the way, that's reminds me, when you're down and bleeding, that'w when you know who were your true friends.

It is amazing how this country continues to suffer from short term memory loss and how gullable some of it's citizens are to the biased garbage the media spews forth. Do your homework people.
Vote for Hillary Clinton or is that Hillary Rodham-Clinton? Perhaps it is whatever is convenient...for her. That wolf in sheeps clothing won't be getting my vote!!!!!
