Good evening, folks, and welcome to another edition of Videos of the Week. I apologize for being a day late, instead of my usual dollar short, but your patience will be rewarded.

In political time, this past week was lifetimes long, and the week ahead promises to be much the same. For now, let's curl up next to the computer, that 21st Century fireplace, and let Uncle Tommy spin a YouTube yarn or two.

My first pick for this week is the finale of a very special episode of The Colbert Report. If you missed Wednesday's episode, I encourage you to check it out. I think it really showcases vividly why Stephen Colbert is the best satirist working today, and worthy of all-time great status, as well. It helps to know that his guests on the show were Malcolm Gladwell and Ambassador Andrew Young.
First things first, tell me what you think of the "Tube Boob" logo. I think it's kinda eye-catching. Second of all, I want to explain why "VOTW" is so late this week. The reason is my second selection, an all-new "BallWitness News" Special Report, which I was putting the finishing touches on yesterday instead of writing "VOTW." I'm sure you'll agree, well worth the wait.

Update: Wow, the last BallWitness News is now the all-time #1 video at The Specious Report. Nice! But that "Bush Coins" video is gaining fast, so go there and vote for me!
Update: Attention, Ron Paul supporters: Stop getting mad at the video cutting off at the end. That's the joke, that the media won't let him be heard. Jeez, you guys get mad too quick. Read my stories, I stick up for your guy all the time. Oh, and the reason this appears in the "Buzz on..." box is because this is the most recent article tagged "Ron Paul."

Next up is a clip dedicated to my #1 reader, RomneyGirl. We touched on this in "BallWitness News", but I thought it was only fair to play the clip in context. Here's our man Mitt with the funniest attempt at "hipness" since John Kerry was "fascinated by rap and hiphop."

Oh, classic! But didn't that violate one of the 3 Laws? How much would you have paid to see him do a little "Macarena" or "Electric Boogaloo?"

Senator Clinton was soundly defeated in Saturday's South Carolina Democratic Primary, with Barack Obama more than doubling her vote total. Hillary must have seen the writing on the wall, as she high-tailed it out of there as the polls were closing. The whole thing put me in mind of this next clip, an ode to Hillary's destination that night.

Media Matters and my Mom both did excellent stories on Chris Matthews' misogyny last week, and I hate to break it to both of them, but I beat them both to it by about half a year. This next clip is a "Hardball" parody from the early days of "The Jung Jurks" that viciously lampoons Matthews, so badly that I actually felt bad afterwards. Warning: There's some foul language, NSFW.

We never did end up giving away that T-Shirt. Anyone who wants to can still guess.

Here's a great video that I posted in another story this week, but it's worth a second look. You think those Ron Paul guys are just paranoid? Check this out:

Fuel for the fire. There's another Ron Paul supporter who does a lot of fun Ron Paul/ABBA videos. Check it out.

Speaking of Ron Paul, the good doctor royally tripped up John McCain at the Florida debate, and a genius Youtuber drew an apt, and hilarious, parallel with this beauty:

To be fair to McCain, I had no idea what he was talking about, either, but I'm not running for president.

This next clip is an unintentionally funny Fox News clip that's worthy of Brave New Films' Fox Porn site. Watch the clip, and tell me 2 things: What is "Full digital nudity"? Is that when your fingers are naked? And why is their expert called a "Psychology Specialist" and not a Psychologist? Is she even a psych major?

Here's a clip from Barely Political that I just discovered this week. It's an ad attacking Obama Girl, and it's by the "Romney Girls". RomneyGirl, what gives? I thought you were one of a kind.

The Onion News Network continued to give me "production envy" with this clip about a meaty issue for voters.
As Obese Population Rises, More Candidates Courting The Fat Vote

Finally, I conclude this very self-indulgent edition of Videos of the Week with a video from a homeboy of mine, but there's an important reason for that. I was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, as were former Governor Jim McGreevey, baseball player, and later manager Jeff Torborg, comedian Rich Vos, and I'm pretty sure Hank Aaron lived there for awhile. Dudley Moore was a Plainfield resident at the time of his death. It was also the hometown of my former co-worker, Brenda, who passed away today.

I saw her around the office a lot, but I really only got to talk to her in the two weeks before she retired last year, which is how I discovered our common roots. She told me she had been looking forward to her retirement for a long time. Economic realities had forced her to postpone it several times. She was a very sweet lady, and I was greatly saddened by this news.

So, to remember her, I'm going to share with you a song by our neighbor, Mr. George Clinton. I hope to see you back here next week, same time, same channel.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
