Barack Obama won a Grammy Award for the audio version of his book "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts On Reclaiming The American Dream."

In winning this Grammy, Obama beat out ex-Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter who were both nominated in the same category - best spoken word album.

Carter was nominated for "Sunday Mornings in Plains: Bringing Peace to a Changing World" and Clinton for "Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World." Alan Alda and Maya Angelou were also nominees.

This caps a weekend that Obama swept the Democrat contests in Washington, Louisiana, Nebraska and Maine; victories that according to his campaign, awards him a net 57 delegates.

Hillary Clinton has previously won her own Grammy. The 1996 audio version of "It Takes a Village" won.

Both Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, while losing this year, have previously won a Grammy for their audio books.

Tonight's Grammy for Obama is his second. He won one in 2006, for the audio version of his memoir "Dreams From My Father."

The last GOP-politician to win this statuette was U.S. Senator Everett M. Dirksen, in 1967, for his recording "Gallant Men."

Have you read or listened to Obama's tome "Audacity"?

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
