Obama Leads in Popular Vote

I've posted before on the contentious subject of seating Florida and Michigan's delegates. On a related topic, NBC News has now released some interesting numbers regarding the popular vote. Even with Michigan and Florida included in the tally, Obama still leads Clinton in terms of the number of votes cast this primary season.

Including Florida and Michigan the total vote stands:
Obama 9,942,375
Clinton 9,860,138

Consider that for a moment. Obama's name wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan. NBC sees the significance:

Why does this popular vote total matter? Because it's yet another talking point when wooing superdelegates. Howm many supers will be comfortable voting against the candidate who's leading in the pledge delegate count and the total vote count?

Obama also took his first lead in Rasmussen's national poll today, and is also up according to Gallup. The news was not all bad for Clinton today. She picked up the endorsement of Joe Wilson, a well-respected figure in Democratic circles.
