The main job of the American President is to renounce everybody and everything he or she has encountered over a lifetime.
All three leading candidates spend most of their time proving they're "tested" and "ready" for this particular job challenge by constantly saying they renounce this or that person or statement or thing or belief.
John McCain had to renounce some wingnut preacher who wants the Gays to be made illegal, and Hillary sort of halfway renounced her best friend Eliot Spitzer who loves hookers more than anything, but it was Barack Obama who really had to do the renouncing this week, because white conservatives find it very racist when black people talk about racism.
The same nuts who were calling Obama a Secret Muslim not so long ago are suddenly more than ready to acknowledge his Christianity. Why? Because he goes to a church that used to have an angry black minister who is angry about things! And we all know that's racist.
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. has left his "spiritual adviser" role in the Obama campaign after people dug up some videotapes showing the angry minister being angry about black people being called what white people can only type as the "N word."
This same revered is also apparently angry about how white people kept black people as slaves for the first hundred years of this country's existence, and how black people are still disproportionately poor and disproportionately in prison.
It is obviously racist for black people to complain about things like slavery and racism, and it is extra racist of Barack Obama to know a black person who would have the nerve to complain about slavery and racism. This is why white conservatives demanded that Obama apologize and also renounce this minister -- and it's a good thing he distanced himself from Rev. Wright, otherwise a lot of white conservatives would think twice about voting for Barack!
And this isn't the first time someone close to Senator Obama had some history of mentioning race or racism. Just last month, we learned his wife Michele wrote a thesis paper at Princeton about racism against black people. Doesn't Barack Obama know any white people?
But did the Revered Wright do anything that was even worse than being racistly against racism? You bet! This angry man had the nerve to basically steal Ron Paul's entire foreign policy! According to the Rev. Wright (and Ron Paul), the United States somehow "deserved" the 9/11 attacks just because the United States has bombed and invaded and taken over whatever country we wanted for more than a century now.
That's so incredibly racist! Everybody knows -- as the late great Jerry Falwell and his not-yet-dead partner Pat Robertson told us on the teevee -- that America deserved 9/11 because we have all these gays and abortions and feminists and civil-rights lawyers.
Let's hope Barack Obama has learned his lesson: If he wants to be president, then he'll need to surround himself with the right kind of dingbat intolerant preachers -- people like George W. Bush's best Jesus buddy Billy Graham, who says Jews are the real problem in America, and John McCain's spiritual adviser nutcases Rod Parsley and John Hagee, who will bravely rid the world of everything they hate: Muslims,Adulterers,Jews,Homosexuals, Liberals and Catholics.
Here is a crazy idea all the presidential candidates may want to consider: If you want to be religious, maybe keep your religion at home or in church where it belongs, and keep your "spiritual advisers" there, too.
Ken Layne is editor of the D.C. gossip blog Wonkette.
Except that "Reverend" Wright married the Obama's, gave the title to Obama's book, was an advisor to his campaign, and was set to give the invocation at Obama's announcement for his run for President (until a last minute cancellation), I think you're right on the money.
Apples to anvils...you don't really believe we're buying any of it do you?

As to be expected, paste on beard guy missed the entire universe the point was in.
I guess he didn't bother to listen to Rev. Wright's "best of" collection. Wright said much more than that he was angry about slavery.
Parsley and Haggee are NOT McCains "spritual advisors" Wright has been Obama's for many years.
Wonkette, must truly the the silliest thing on the face of the entire planet. One day when I think my stomach can handle it, I may check it out.

White people were slaves here before black peaple were...you don't hear white people going around saying everyone owes them something all the time because of it. If a white preacher were to get up in church and talk about black people the way barack hussein obama's preacher talked about white people, the black people would be outside the church marching and protesting against racism.

Just maybe we are looking at thsi thing wrong . If those people continue to support Obama after all those videos(Obama had to be present at some), we are surely in deep trouble with so much hate mongers in the world. Obama should just resign from the running and stop any further campaigning ! To take his young children into this church for several years with these type sermons being spewed has got to have entered their brains for future use . SHAME ON OBAMA. HILLARY for PRESIDENT 2008 Make it so in November !

Quite a crowd here. I'm assuming jeff is referring to indentured servitude, a custom where kids were contracted to a business owner. They worked for no pay and were technically slaves until the end of the contract. Doesn't quite match the black experience. Maybe some of jeffs relatives had more of a problem with that than most.
Jleonard seems to refer to the fact that Obama actually attended the church and knew the reverend in question where as McCain just had to go whore himself to the guy who calls the catholic chuch 'the great whore'. Having been raised catholic myself I can assure you you better not use that term unless you have at least been through catechism!
Davidg, seems to take issue with the reverends 'foreign policy statements'. When Dr, Paul was saying the same thing, in more measure tone for sure, I believe you were referring to him as a patriot? I could be mistaken there.
It appears Tom won't be voting for the jr, senator from illinois. Is that a fair assessment, Tom? There's your wrap up.

tfitz,
That is not true (okay not a novelty for you, but still). Paul's foreign policy statements do not resemble Wright's in the least. So, yeah you are mistaken, but again, no novelty for you. I did not even mention Wright's "foreign policy" which you put in quotes as if I did (another Obama tactic, the liar makes the other person seem like they said something they didn't)
Oh, and indentured servitude was much more than what you make it out to be (again no novelty for you).

Everyone needs to watch this video of Barack Hussein Obamas preacher giving a serman.
These are just a few of the remarks the reverend wright made during the serman:
The title of Obama’s second book, “The Audacity of Hope,” was taken from a sermon by Wright.
During a Christmas sermon, Wright tried to compare Obama’s upbringing to Jesus at the hands of the Romans.
“Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people,” Wright said. “Hillary would never know that.
“Hillary ain’t never been called a "n"(he used the whole n word). Hillary has never had a people defined as a non-person.”
It was evident that he is very racist and does not like white people. It was also evident that the congregation felt the same way. How can Barack Hussein Obama go to a racist church like this for 20 years and not share the same views as them. Why would anyone attend a church for 20 years if their views were totally different than the church's. Maybe because Barack Hussein Obama feels the same way about white people as his personal mentor, the reverend wright.

Mr. Layne, I sincerely hope that white Americans will stop getting so upset when blacks speak of slavery and the disturbing experiences we have suffered as a result of it. It does not mean that we are anti-American or hate whites, it means that we have been systematically hurt by this very act that ascribed a 3/5th of a person rule to a whole group of people. I am the same generation as Senator Obama. I am educated and have grown up middle-class, and spent the greater potion of mylive in America, and although things have gotten better for my gneration, my mother's generation still live with the visible hurt and pain of their era. There is no need to condem Senator Obama for something his pastor said. I know that he does not share these comments. Cut him a little slack.

Amazing how people can see 2 or 3 30 second clips, and feel qualified to pass judgment on 30+ years of ministry.
Regardless, Sen. Obama seems old enough and mature enough to have his own values, and act accordingly.
Now, if you can show a clip of Sen. Obama railing against America, or perpetuating the statements of Rev. Wright, then you might have a valid complaint.

If you guys don't think this is just a campaign ploy from the Obama campaign think again! Think about it 6 weeks before another primary so he can denounce that dirty hating America man Jeremiah Wright now and buy the time the Pennsylvania primaries comes it's all gone...not to mention back in April of last year Wright told the New York times "if Barack gets past the primary , he might have to publicly distance himself from me". and Barack said "yeah that might have to happen." http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2007/8/8/194812.shtml?s=lh

you are a racist, non-patriotic, idiot if you think that what his pastor said is NOT racist. "GOD DAMN AMERICA"? did you miss that part? Black people's own words hold them back more than white men do. making excuses, pushing off blame. as long as we have far left, whining, crying blacks in the spotlight then things will never change. If you don't like America then get out.

Stop rationalizing...OBAMA HAS BEEN EXPOSED. IT'S OVER. I DON'T CARE HOW MANY DELEGATES HE HAS. THERE IS NO WAY OBAMA CAN BE ELECTED IN NOVEMBER. THOSE TAPES OF "SERMONS' ARE JUST THE TIP OF THE ICE BERG. lARRY ELSER, A RADIO HOST, CLAIMED ON FOX LAST NIGHT THAT IT WAS OBAMA WHO MADE THE DECISION TO EXCLUDE REVEREND WRIGHT FROM THE PODIUM WHEN HE ANNOUNCED HIS DECISION TO RUN. His reason, "the Jews supporting me will run from my campaign if they hear him"...
Fox is looking for witnesses: do you get it...OBAMA KNEW ABOUT THESE SERMONS...HE LIED LAST NIGHT ON FOX WHEN HE SAID HE WAS JUST HEARING SOME OF THEM...OBAMA KNEW AND STAYED AT THE CHURCH FOR TWENTY YEARS. Can you imagine if Hillary Clinton belonged to a church that preached HATE AGAINST AFRICAN AMERICANS AND THIS COUNTRY? CAN YOU IMAGINE THE TV ADS THE GOP WOULD RUN THIS FALL USING THE REVEREND'S WORDS. It is over: the Dems cannot nominate Obama after this.

As an American I don't care what all his other sermons sounded like. He gave that chicken came home to roost talk while they were digging out the bodies of my fellow citizens from under the the WTC rubble. Absolutely uncalled for! After checking out that churches website I suggest that they take their love of all things African over to Africa and then revisit how evil they think the USA is after spending some time with the wonderful leaders/warlords over there.

GEE WONDER WHERE THE HEADLINE IS ABOUT OBAMA'S LATEST SCANDAL....
Obama had to admit today that his indicted Buddy Tony Rezko actually gave him $250,000 instead of tyhe $150,000 he previously claimed.
When you look under Obama's rock you will find Plagiarism, sweetheart Real Estate Deals, NAFTA lies and backroom deals, Farrakhan, Rev. Wright and a wife who has never been proud of her country.
My Obama supporters have low standards.

I'm just tired of people lying. This blogger knows damn well he's comparing apples and anvils (thanks jleonard). Day after day, these aol bloggers flat out LIE.
I realize it's not real news, but rather rolling commentary, but day after day after day after day. Don't they get tired of themselves? Don't they ever question themselves? Then come their same faithful commenters, day after day, attacking anyone who DARES to question anything about Obama. Rev Wright said what he said, the tapes DO NOT LIE, Obama's supporters do.
Now, if Huckabee were the Republican nominee, you would have a serious valid issue. Huckabee is pretty much the same category as Parsley and Hagee, just not quite as nutty. They wanted Huckabee but when he didn't get the nomination they got behind McCain...why because McCain is anti-abortion which is their #1 issue. McCain will appoint a conservative Judge to the USSC, which is another one of their issues. McCain will not pass anything resembling gay marriage (another one of their issues) so of course they are supporting McCain.
DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
AOL newsbloggers: Is it lies or is it malvolence?
I don't know. And jpgoodrow is right, where is the headline about Rezko? The media has decided to give the entire Rezko fiasco a free pass.
It is sickening and I am sick and tired of it. Let me say this...on paper, I should be an Obama supporter. Many people who know me would assume I am just supporting him. I voted for Nader once, Perot once, Clinton once and Kerry once. I am not someone who wants to switch from being basically a Democrat, but I will in a minute if Count Baracula is on the ballot.
