The latest web-video focusing on Barack Obama, has quickly been dismissed by Obamanaics simply as being "Swift Boating" (that illusionary term describing an effective and creditable attack). Watch and see why this video is becoming a viral problem for the Obama campaign.

Ad detractors quickly point out the source of this spot. It was created by the same talent producing the radio talk-show The Laura Ingraham's program. Fair enough. The source of material is always important. But not determinately so.

Even those familiar with a high school introductory course in logic know an argument's source is not a discredit or credit. In both cases, if you dismissed or accepted a proposal based upon its source, you would subcome to a fallacy.

This ad has some value in stirring up a debate. Looking past a mesmerizing speech, what is the pattern of judgment, action and repose of Barack Obama? This is a good exchange or discussion to have.

The editing mash-up of a candidate's interviews, speeches and comments from supporters has a visually high impact. It works. But its not like the medium is new. People know the natural contortion these mash-ups go through.

At this point, the random data points thrown out in this video and the resulting suggestive links are probably in reality weak. Nonetheless, they're problematic for the Obama campaign.

Pro-Obama folks should be concerned with the less than effective response or method in which his campaign has dealt with the issue; anti-Obama folks will continue to look for further data points to make the mosaic more believable and if they surface, it's all fair game.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
