Videos of the Week - Chris Wallace on Obama

What a week this has been. Welcome to Videos of the Week (VOTW). I endorsed Barack Obama this week, which may account for that extra spring in his step these days. Hopefully, my endorsement works out better for him than itChris Wallace did for Chris Dodd or John Edwards. To be fair, I knew at the time that Dodd had no chance, and was pretty sure Edwards didn't, either, but it's not my job to pick the winner. Rather, it is to inform you about all of the candidates, and give you my informed judgment.

As my colleague, Justin Paulette, gleefully points out, the Democrats are in real trouble, at risk of losing an unloseable election. Who could have seen that coming?

Hands down, the clip of the week is Chris Wallace dressing down the cast of "Fox & Friends". Wallace gets a lot of grief from those outside the Fox bubble, much of it deserved, but here is his redemption.

Is this what we've come to? Chris Wallace is talking some sense into Hillary Clinton's supporters? I love the way the pissant anchors get all snippy with him, too, like Wallace couldn't have them all fired and disappeared to Gitmo. And the looks on their faces? So delicious, like praline-pecan ice cream.

Speaking of Senator Clinton, how did she get into a debate with Sinbad? Not the sailor, mind you, but the Star Search-winning comedian. Ordinarily, I abhor this kind of "Gotcha!" politics, but when you're going around bragging about something like this, you're kind of asking for it.

Now, the measures she describes sound like standard operating procedure for any flight into a combat zone, so I'm sure that's all true, but the video of the welcome ceremony, when contrasted with her account of running to their cars? A little devastating.

Hey, remember that first clip? Turns out one of the "Friends", Brian Kilmeade, actually did try to talk some sense into the other two. Will wonders never cease?

I misjudged the guy in that first clip. Good for him. What I really like about it, though, is that obviously, the guy's sense of fairness got the better of him. What a rarity in today's media. If you want more, there was a follow-up on Kilmeade's radio show.

This may seem like Reverend Wright overkill, but my next clip features Al Sharpton putting the whole thing into focus in a way that defies argument.

Maybe I don't watch enough Al Sharpton, but every time I see him, he makes more sense than anyone else in the room.

Remember the little girl in the 3am ad? She's baaack! What I find fascinating here is the way they show how the footage was modified, putting to rest any claim that the ad was not playing to the politics of fear.

This next clip gives new meaning to the term "Mad Money."

Here's the guy Hillary Clinton is "certain" has passed the Commander-in-Chief threshold.

Finally, here's a little something to lighten up the mood a little, from The Onion. Until next week, tube boobs, enjoy "Bring Your Daughters to War Day."

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
