Obama is a worthless candidate who is ruining America's chance for real change. He insults the American people every week and clearly hates America. I am amazed that someone like him is allowed to run for the President of the United States!!! Hillary in '08!!!

First, by Christian do you mean Trinitarian Christian? All Christians do not think the same!
Here in Asheville, NC, we have at least four "new age" Christian churches.
Would you consider Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, John Adams, George Washington and other prominent Founders FAKE CHRISTIANS. They were Unitarian Christians.
They did not believe in the Divinity of Christ, nor that the Trinity is an authentic, original Christian doctrine.
Your question is ludicrous and devisive. In this country, one's religion is a matter of personal conscience.

Andrew, what the F is a FAKE CHRISTIAN? Your either a Christian or you are not! First of all I can't stand the word because many people exploit it and make false claims to be it.
Andrew, second of all what ever OBAMA is would be between he and the GOD of his choice. I could ask if John McCain's GOD could be his Billionarist, or if Bill's god is his private parts that he likes to spread all over the world? Don't Americans have problems that can't be solved by trying to tear down each other?

I don't know about Mc Cain but I've seen Hillary and my daughter painted houses in NOLA post-Katrina with Obama, both she and I agreed that they dance to the tune of the media. How can you be "real" when you are so worried about production values? Yes, they are way too choreographed. From what I can see Obama is a better actor than her by far.

I do believe the bible admonishes believers to "judge not that thou shall also be judged" I do NOT believe that Obama gets the same meanings from his bible study as I get from mine but it would be a bit harsh to call him a "fake" Christian

There is no doubt that Obama is a fake. The way he presents his life and values are fake. The reasons he claims to be running are fake. He his not the leader that he claims to be. Obama is just trying to complete a resume.

I hate to question anyone's relationship with God, because that's between them and God, but what I do know is there wasn't a lot of Holiness coming out of Obama's church.

Obama says he's Christian but I have not heard him speak of Christ or Jesus. I want to know he has Jesus in his heart and mind when he lives day to day. We can only ask him to give his best with true good intentions for all of America. If I can Trust him I will vote for him. I have liked Obama up till now but after watching him the other night on the Compassion discussion he had a good chance to say a few things he did not say. Now I'm confused. Especially after I found out about this Oprah Church thing. You have to look into that your self.

Bill Kristol is a non-borne again idiot. His article which is the basis for Sullivan's article and hence this question is that Obama is a godless commie. I wonder how often Kristol goes to church.

It is like asking "Is Andrew Sullivan a fake gay man?" How stupid a question is this Andrew? Your psuedo-conservative attitude is disappointing to say the least. Are the Republicans that afraid of Obama to fan this "over-exposed" false story about his faith? Have you run out of facts Andrew? Have you run out of 'real' stories to write?

Seeing as most voted yes, over 'I'm not sure' or 'no', I'll assume most are calling Christianity a fake religion. Hence, the certainty of calling what he believes fake.

This is the stupidest question yet! Who are we to judge what is in his heart? And if WE are true Christians, we do not judge others. He says he is, he had done lots of work for the poor and that is good enough for me. Why just ask this about Obama? What about Clinton? What about McCain? Christianity is more than just attending church on Sunday - it's how you live your life, but you evidently just accept the other candidate's word for this. This is not a nation of idiots and this question is more insulting to the voters than it is to the candidate. There are many types of Christian churches, and they all worship in different ways and follow different doctrines - does that make any religion "more" Christian than another? As a practicing Catholic, I respect ALL religions, and vote on the issues and the type of person the candidate is - I don't care if they are Christian, Jewish, Muslim or any other religion. Any intelligent person votes for more than just one issue - a rational person will weigh all the issues and make their decision. This stupid question shows just how stupid the media talking heads think we must be. I have always followed politics closely, but I have just about had it this election year. The media watches all the candidates like a hawk, and cannot wait for one of them to make an error to blast across the airwaves - and I'm talking about all of them, not just Obama. Frankly, not much Christian about that; maybe Andrew should ask himself, and the rest of the idiotic media that question, as none of them act too Christian-like themselves.
