Justin Paulette
Justin Paulette is an attorney practicing international law in bella Italia. He hails from the great Buckeye State, "The Heart of it All," the only state with a bridge which you can cross and still be on the same side of the river, home of the hot dog, pop top soda can and the largest basket in the world! Though he's spent the past decade jet-setting across the Atlantic with one foot in London and the other on Capitol Hill, he still fancies himself a Mid-western, God-fearing, role-playing geek at heart.

Moments ago, Reuters dropped broad-coverage stories on Obama, Clinton and McCain with the span of one minute. The reason for the recap on the candidates is that the media has no idea what to make of the present Democratic primaries.

As AOL News leads with the headline, "Barack Obama: Campaigning with a message of hope," the Washington Post fronts a story titled,"Obama's Gloves Are Off -- And May Need to Stay Off." While the latter recognizes the utility of negativity and forgivingly notes Obama's trend toward the dark side, the New York Times prints a scathing editorial entitled, "The Low Road to Victory," castigating Clinton for her negative attacks and scolding that such tactics are counter-productive.

The Wall Street Journal captures the only certainty of the Pennsylvania primary when it notes that both candidates have been "badly bruised by a negative six-week campaign." And Slate predicts the most likely forecasts of the next several weeks:"For those in the Democratic Party who are worried that the race has gotten too ugly, it looks like it's going to get even uglier."

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
