The director of "The War Room," D.A. Pennabaker, vindicates Bill Clinton's '92 campaign manager, and current informal advisor to Hillary, Mickey Kantor. He claims the first comment, "Those people are sh**" was taken out of context, and that the second was doctored. Ben Smith has details.
Dirty tricks, yet again? Pretty damn low if true, and will no doubt trigger a lawsuit or two. I'm curious to learn who is behind it all. Was it an Obama supporter? Was it a Clinton supporter laying bait?
UPDATE:
This story is still developing. According to Smith, the editor of the YouTube file claims he did nothing more than enhance the volume of the second comment. Here's the original bit from the film. The part in question starts around 4:40:
Does it matter what anyone who supports Clinton say's or does? It obviously doesn't for Obama, so why isn't there a level playing field here? I didn't even bother watching the clip just by your lead in David. I just don't get it. I really don't. It's ok to bash Clinton but it's unprogressive to do the same to Obama. What is it about Obama that has you so in love David? Or is this out of utter hatred for Clinton?

SamTexas,
We've written many stories on Reverend Wright on this blog. It only seems fair to also hear from long-time Clinton friends as well.
I like Obama for his policy proposals and his temperament. I like most of Hillary's proposals as well, but don't like her style of campaigning. I would vote for her in a nano-second over John McCain.

I understand why you posted this, but your response to as to why you prefer Obama over Clinton baffles me. You "don't like her sytle of campaigning", yet...you seem to be using the same tactics you would claim she uses in this blog! Wouldn't you fall more in line with Obama's message if you just continue to tout his "change" and "hope" rehetoric as opposed to going negative? Yes, I had to see it. It's not Clinton speaking. Nor is it recent. So, how is this clip relevent at all to the "issues" that your candidate wants to focus on.
By the way...how young is George here?

Do you suppose the whites will riot in Denver when Obama gets the nomination he earned? Better beef up the police presence in Denver.

What you don't get, David, is that Kantor is not Hillary's 20 year pastor. She does not have the same affiliation to him that Obama has to his pastor of 20 years. So you can keep trying to dig dirt on the Clintons, but it is not the same thing. Obama has still not satisfied many voters with his answers to why had he stayed in that particular church, of all the churches in Chicago that he could have affiliated himself with?????????

I didn't see Carville of Stephanopoulis laugh at that comment.
In fact George Stephanopoulis shook his head in obvious disagreement and reproach--disapproval.
Carville's facial expression changed from slight smile to nonexistent smile by the time the words were finished.

SamTexas,
I take your point about tactics. I don't think that posting the video is out of bounds in any real sense, nor did I see posting Reverend Wright videos.
I'm not saying Hillary agrees with what Kantor had to say. I hope and trust that she doesn't. In the same way the Obama has been held accountable for Wright's views, I think a case can be made that Hillary should distance herself from the sentiment in the clip.
You sound like a nice guy. If you're ever in Florida, we should meet for a beer and talk it all over.

you take every opportunity to bash hillary, david knowless and david knownothing. obama's temperment ? you mean his pansy ways ? his daily lies ? and his policies that he copys from other people, mostly hillary. everyday you think you are advancing your candidate in here, do you realy work for obama ? people dislike you as much as they dislike obama. why dont you just shut up for a change and get your lips off obam's posterior.

Caucus states
Obama Win...
Wyoming 61% Hawaii 76% Maine 59% Nebraska 66% Alaska 74% Colorado 67% Idaho 80% Kansas 74% Minnesota 66% No.Dakota 61%
What is wrong with this picture? Obama did not do nearly so well in states with Primaries....Perhaps it was because MoveOn invaded these caucuses with their virtual Ak47s, and like me..many just went home, knowing the caucus was a farce.
We all know Obama does not do well in rural America when the voters have a say.
Where is the FEC when you need them. Oh, they only have two members..Moveon is free to do whatever they pleae.

This Kantor guy hasn't worked in politics in over 12 years--I doubt Bill knew about those comments in 1992, and now Kantor is an advisor for Morgan Stanley.
So, Hillary doesn't need to "distance" anything from anyone. A 16 year old comment from a man who hasn't worked for her husband in more than 12 years?
That's really reaching.

I accept David and the same can be said if you are ever in Deep South Texas, come on by. You can not ask Clinton to defend or distance herself from every remark ever made by any of her supporters past and present, as we can not ask the same of Obama. We do need to move on and talk real issues. Maybe in your next post you could have bloggers debate a "real issue." Maybe, voting records, bi-partisan workmanship, abortion, gay rights, even the appointment of justices to the Supreme Court.
