We still have time to count the Michigan and Florida votes. This is USA of 50 states and if THE DEMOCRATIC LEADERS made a mistake, WE CAN NOT DISENFRANCHISE MILLIONS OF DEMOCRAT VOTERS. These states are part of USA. We can count the votes as it stands, OR they can RE-VOTE before August 23. Those STATES are USA citizens, MILLIONS of them who WILL BE VOTING IN NOVEMBER.

Obama is against counting votes, and he is against re-voting. There is only one reason for that. He will lose and he knows it. But OBAMA would lose anyway in November.

Ah, Mr. David, as the Irish would say, you be talkin' the tall one, straight out of the Devil's mouth (or mad woman Adrianna Huffington).

1) Since Truman, who initiated farm subsidies, the cost of food has been under 12% of Americans disposable income. Now spell that d i s p o s a b l e income. Currently, even with the oil/energy crunch, USDA states that food only costs some 10% of disposable income. Under the Clinton years, food was at its lowest, averaging 8-9% of American's disposable income. Food costs have never been above 12% since Truman's time. That's a fact jack. You spend more of your disposable income on DVD, CDs, and blue jeans.

2) You have taken Obama's line about food because he and his radical liberals want to harvest grains (where much of our subsidies lie) and direct them in a huge food aid program to Africa, the Palestine, Lebanon, and the United Nations. This is the a la Kennedy style of the 1960s where huge amounts of grain was shipped world wide in bags marked "Free Food by the US". Obama and Kennedy both feel this is their bargaining edge in foreign diplomacy. That type of diplomacy worked after WWII, but eventually food was left in port rotting.

3) Obama and Kennedy want farmers to end all conservation programs and farm from doorstep to road. What will this do? It will raise the cost of food in this nation, not lower it because nothing is really free, Mr. Dave, especially when you give away tons of food to nations whose per capita is directed against the US as they are sworn enemies of the US. This is exactly what the result of the Kennedy massive food aid during the 1960s and 1970s. Meanwhile, farmers will once again face quotas and over bearing government regulations like in the 1960s and 1970s that finally broke the agricultural community under the Carter Administration when the ag community went into the crapper due to government manipulation of food prices and grains and the market. You were too young to remember that - but when the Farm Credit Services when bankrupt due to Democrats in Congress taking huge loans out of the agency to spend on their pet programs, the farming community and small towns went belly up. I remember those times when farmers looked at silos as an alternative (its called suicide) when they lost their farms and rural farm banks went under. Then, at that time, food costs went up to 12% and kept climbing. Republicans and Democrats did nothing, so the Farm movement was born. The people who fought the movement was mostly Democrats, urban Democrats like yourself - and Illinois/Indiana rich farmers who also have working oil wells on their land, who today are on Obama's political payroll. As you must know by now, the politics in Illinois is dirty with the prior Governor (Republican) serving in the Fed Pen, with the current Governor (Democrat) most likely following as his aides are currently indicted and singing like canaries.

4) The Green Revolution was born, developed by Noble Peace Prize winner Norman Borlaugh (The Man Who Fed the World). Now this isn't Green Peace, so don't confuse the issue. The onclusion was to get government interference and manipulation out of Agriculture and allow innovation and technology to advance instead of being stifled. Methods of conservation development, including no-till, ridge till, mulch-till, in order to save soil and natural residue to keep water clean. Innovations such as the amazing soybean which is the main health ingredient into much of our food and medicine (George Washington Carver). Aqua culture which is not the number one source of protein into third world nations. What occurred when government kept their sticky little socialists hands (Farmer’s Union and the Democratic Party) out of the agri community was what both Volker and Greenspan said that the best industry in the nation and the world is the agricultural industry, who has risen from the ashes to prominence and cutting edge technology all the while letting the market determine price and keeping food prices here in the US lower than any other nation in the world.

5) The rural communities bloomed from their depression they suffered in the 1970s and 1980s. More revenue meant economic development. Yeah, Wal Mart came in and small shop owners suffered, but the economics of jobs and higher wages were more evident as businesses bailed out of the cities (oh goodness, another Obama plan to bring business back to the inner cities) and took up residence in small towns such as the auto industry, the technology industry. Frankly, Mr. Dave, Sen Obama and Sen. Kennedy want to transfer that economic positive to the cities and leave the rural and ag communities in abject poverty under the iron rule of government. That is wrong, Mr. Dave, very very wrong. What your are advocating is that the leadership of the Democrats, using government, to take over the hard earned work and abilities and their sterling results for themselves by using government to contain and control an industry.

What next, Mr. Dave, communal farms like Red China tried to do under Mao?

Finally, Mr. Dave, the only thing propping up our trade deficit is soybeans, cotton, and Boeing planes. Yet it is amazing to the ag community that Sen. Obama’s plan is to regulate the industry, give away free food, and thus eliminate in one massive brain dead Kennedy induced moment the only exports that truly carry a healthy standard globally.
Why is Obama suggesting food aid to China in order to resolve the Tibet issue? Can you explain the economics of that one.

Frankly, at this time, all I can say is that you liberals have lived in your ivory tower too long, since the 1960s, have harbored immense resentment against the rest of the world and have gone over your Kennedy manual too many times in the great “hope” of seeing Camelot again. Camelot provided the groundwork for the difficulties of the 1970s, 1980s until today. That’s a fact jack.

I have taken your article and will deliver it to the thousands of farmers in Iowa, Illinois (sans ist greedy little Obama leadership), Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, and the great plains. If Sen. Obama and Sen. Kennedy continue on this path, you will see the Farm movement return with every State Legislature tied up in the same argument – we have given this nation cheap, healthy and nutritious food – we will not be socialized – nor our wealth plundered by any party.

So go ahead, Mr. Dave, the Republican leadership screwed up on the war in Iraq, the Democrats will screw up by raising the price of food. All of you politicos are frankly nut cases trying to use government to clobber good, decent Americans.

Those fake conservatives in the White House that you voted for in 2000 and 2004 had their mandate and screwed it up, possibly beyond repair. To much of the general public, they have turned the word "conservative" into a negative term.

The House is lost. The Senate is lost. McCain is all that can save the Republican party, and the American public from oppressive taxation and more entitlement programs, especially the pensions and long-term healthcare obligations to employees of a bloated federal beaurocracy that will occur under a Democratic administration.

This is the dilemna McCain finds himself in - align himself totally with an unpopular president - Bush - or try to go his own way. As far as I can tell, his policies mirror Bush's anyway, so I don't know what conservatives are bitching about. McCain will only differ from Bush overall in temperament, nothing else. His speeches about global warming and such are just his half hearted attempts at playing to the middle. The hard liners in the GOP will own McCain, much as they owned Bush.
Still, the Demcorats winning the last three special elections in GOP-leaning districts does bode well for the Republican party this fall.

I remember looking at a map of the US after the 2000 election. You know the blue/red map.

I was shocked to see most of the map was blue with the red areas corresponding to urban cities. The map clearly shows rural America voted for Bush and urban America voted for Gore.

Although not politically correct and sterotypical
rural Americans generally vote for a President to do what is best for the country.
Gimme, gimme, gimme, whats in it for me urban Americans generally vote for a president to do what is best for them.

Rural America - Bastions of Hate`

Does anyone remember 911. He's cunning and a racists. He is connected with dirty money and bad connections in the rest of the world.

Obama's got his work cut out with these people when he gets the nomination. A summer of engaging and listening with rural non-college educated white folk would help - why not hold a series of town hall meetings in rural America? I don't think any region should be written off by any candidate, especially if the major objections seem racial or religious.

Straight Talk About Universal Healthcare

A better way to describe the program would be to call it "universal heath insurance." The idea is that by compelling everyone in the nation to participate in the insurance market, you'd cut down on what's known as the "free rider" syndrome. As the term suggests, this would be people getting a "free ride" from the healthcare system by deciding not to get their own health insurance because they've been assured that in the case of an emergency or personal health catastrophe, inexpensive care will be guaranteed to them by the government. The theory is that mandated participation would help to drive down insurance costs.
But any mandate requires an enforcement component. My fear is that a government branch with the kind of power to actually identify and penalize those seeking to avoid the insurance mandates of universal healthcare would be vast and all-powerful. The new healthcare arm of the government would likely have the same kind of power (and loathsome reputation) as the IRS.
