David KnowlesJohn Edwards Endorses Barack Obama
Political Machine contributor and Time Magazine blogger Mark Halperin had an inkling. Earlier today, the Obama campaign touting a "big national endorsement" in Michigan. Halperin asked six senior Obama aides point blank if was John Edwards. All of them offered silence in return. John Edwards "has boarded a plane" Halperin later said.The other big endorsement to catch the Clinton campaign off-guard today came from NARAL Pro-Choice Amercia. Howard Wolfson said he was "surprised" by it. Here's NARAL's statement via AOL News:
"Today, we are proud to put our organization's grassroots and political support behind the pro-choice candidate whom we believe will secure the Democratic nomination and advance to the general election. That candidate is Senator Obama."
UPDATE: It's official. AP confirms it. Edwards goes for Obama. Huge. Grand Rapids, Michigan press conference at 6:15. So much for West Virginia momentum.

I told everyone early on that Edwards would endorse him after the NC primary was over. no one believed me..

I think it would be a shame if Hillary isn't the dem nom, because I know Obama won't win the general election, hell, I don't even think it's safe for him in the general election.
Something is wrong with the dem party and the media. It's been pretty screwy all this time.
In the meantime, endorsements are nice, but we've seen them change with the wind. Superdelegates only count or matter when they vote in August.
I think they believe that Obama would inherit all of Hillary's democrats? That would not be accurate. Even if Hillary pleaded for dems to back him, I think there are too many who wouldn't.
It sort of sucks knowing that McCain really might be president, but I'll keep pushing for Hillary in the mean time.

If this is true it just means another loser joins the ranks of losers who couldn't make it themselves. I'm wondering why we haven't heard this from the anti-Hillary hate mongers of MSNBC? I don't believe Chris Matthews would pass up the chance to get that warm fuzzy feeling running down his legs!!

So Edwards is finally going to "bow to the pressure" & make an endorsement. I thought better of him than that. It will not change my opinion one iota. I still will not vote for Obama----no way no how. He cannot & will not win the general election. Edwards in the V.P. slot? That would convince me more than ever to not vote Obama. I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT HILLARY CLINTON TO BE THE BEST PERSON FOR THE PRESIDENCY & ALWAYS WILL....NOT BECAUSE OF HER GENDER, BUT BECAUSE OF WHO SHE IS & WHAT SHE'LL BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH TO MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR ALL PEOPLE. Crystal you are exactly right about Chris Matthews and add Keith Obermann to your list. I am boycotting both of their programs. They have been so unobjective during the primary races. Blantly unfair to Senator Clinton.

Who cares now? If it is Edwards, he has obviously been playing politics rather than naming the candidate he believes is best. He should have endorsed one of the candidates before his home state North Carolina's primary instead of waiting to see which candidate would benefit his own political aspirations.

There are those who suggest that, when this campaign is over, the party will unify. I believe that waiting is not an option. Senator Clinton needs to clear the air and drain this poison from our party before any greater danger is done. A speech on race would be a sign of real leadership, and genuine healing, and bring us closer to the victory we so desperately need in November.

A talk on race? Who to? Would it be to the 92+% blacks that voted for Obama? Maybe she can explain why so many people that think blacks did so was because Obama was black are in error. If so, she will be taliking for a long , long time.
