    Another Nutjob Preacher!

    Posted:

Another day, another nutjob preacher denounced on the campaign trail. You might have thought that after Jeremiah Wright, John Hagee, and Rod Parsley, we'd be granted a YouTube respite from these not-so-great-moments-in-pulpitry. And you'd be wrong. Meet Father Michael Pfleger, the latest holy man to be dropped, hot-potato-style, by a presidential hopeful. Have a gander at the remarks he made about Hillary Clinton at, where else, Trinity United Church of Christ.

Oy vey! What is it with these guys? Why didn't they all just go to theater camp and try for a bit role in "Hamlet"? Here's Barack Obama's latest renunciation:

"As I have traveled this country, I've been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that unites us. That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger's divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which does not reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause."

Unlike the aforementioned forebearers of controversy, Pfleger saw fit to issue an apology for his remarks:

"I regret the words I chose on Sunday. These words are inconsistent with Senator Obama's life and message, and I am deeply sorry if they offended Senator Clinton or anyone else who saw them."

This religious reality show is getting very old, very fast. Actually, come to think of it, we might have the makings of a hit. We need a catchy title. Something like: So You Think You Can Ruin A Politician's Career?
