Jindal Vows to Fight Child Rapist Ruling

Maybe Governor Jindal will support the use of time machines to kill rapists before they strike. Jindal is going to need such wonderous science if he thinks he can circumvent the Supreme Court with some state laws.

On a tangentally related note, I fail to understand the reasoning behind those who say the rape of a child is worse than the rape of a woman. They are both premeditated acts that grossly violate another human. How are they different?

GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF OBAMA GETS INTO OUR WHITE HOUSE.

I PERSONALLY FEEL RAPISTS MEAN TO HARM AND PROBABLY KILL THEIR VICTIMS. TREATING THE CASE SHOULD BE AS SEVERE AS MURDER.

Reverend Wright was no less the same person than he ever was in April than he was in March, but NOW he’s an inconvenience and a political liability.

Kind of makes you wonder how much longer Grandma (with her uneasiness around strange AA men) was left in the beams of his two-faced ray of sunshine.

TO PETE- Maybe it's because of several factors. For instance, Children are almost totally dependent on adults for their survival. Most children aren't experienced in the ways of the world and the dangers that lurk within. Most of them are naive and trusting. Some are taught to respect their elders and display good manners. The younger they are, the less they know about sexual matters. All of these factors, and perhaps many more, make children more vulnerable to attack. I believe the lowlifes that commit these crimes know this.

Remember that precious 11 year old girl in Florida who was kidnapped while walking home from a friend's house? We all watched in horror of the tape recorded from a surveillance camera. Maybe 10 years or so later she would not have walked home alone like that. Or if she did, maybe she would have had a gun or a canister of mace in her purse.

Men who commit these hideous crimes, whether the victim is 8 or 88, should either spend their lives in prison or be put to death.

I fail to understand your point. Are you saying that stiffer penalties are warranted when the victim is more naive? Should the penalties be stiffer for someone who would rape a mentally handicapped person? What about the rape of a person who never really got comprehensive sexual education or a person who has a genuine lack of common sense? Should the penalties be greater for the rape of these people?

And what about the inverse of your argument; are you saying that the crime of rape somehow becomes less horrible the more wordly and experienced the victim is? Would the rape of an especially worldly child be less severe than the rape of an especially naive adult?

My perspective is that the rape of a child and the rape of an adult are two equally horrible crimes.

Did you stop and consider the physical aspects? I read of an instance in Maryland where a pastor raped an 11-month-old baby who died as a result of the rape. I should not have to point out the physical differences between babies, toddlers and children as opposed to teenagers, adults and seniors.

Regardless, rape is horrific and life altering for all involved no matter what the age.

Our legal, criminal definition of child rape has been expanded to include many crimes short of vaginal penetration. At what age do we cut of childhood? What if an 12-year-old is "r*ped" by her 16-year-old brother? She is still a child, and he is eligible to be tried as an adult, and put to death if found guilty. What if a 10-year-old is raped by a woman? He was sexually abused, without question, but no penetration of any type occurred. Should she be put to death? Believe me, I do not have a merciful heart for sexual predators (of any kind), but I have grave concerns about Capital Punishment in criminal cases for crimes excluding murder.

When this young, bi-racial "Changeling" first began this race, I was amused at how swiftly he steam-rolled the Clinton machine. My amusement came to a screeching halt however...when I woke up one day and realized that "hey...this guy could end up as our president...!!!"

Jindal just signed a legislative pay raise into law after promising, during his election campaign, that he would do no such thing. This whole castrate and kill the rapists stuff is just an attempt to distract the rubes from the fact that he broke a campaign promise.

As a LA citizen, I am always irritated with the corrupt and stupid pratices of my government. The pay raise is ridiculous but is a seperate issue.

When in America did it become okay for the government to physically abuse people? I am in no way endorsing, apologizing or sympathizing with rapists or any other criminals. We are all enough to know what is wrong and what is right. Temporary insanity is a bullshit claim. It's called self control. Even if you were to remove the genitals of these offenders, they would still molest kids because of their lack of self control.

Secondly, any time you give a right to the government, you will not get it back. If you start by castrating rapists, how many steps will it take to cutting off hands for stealing, or heads for not following the governments religion. This isn't Rihad, it's America.

Rapists and murderers should spend life behind bars. No exceptions. Drug offenders are getting longer sentences than rapists. What the hell is going on?

Lastly, we must remember that no matter what the offense, the system makes mistakes. Several times I have seen stories on 48 hours or 60 minutes about parents sent to jail because the prosecutors tricked the children into saying false things about their parents.

How do we, as a civilized nation, justify physically harming other people for their crimes. How many people on death row have been murdered by our system. How many people are in jail because their court appointed attorney sucked at his job? As a civilized nation, we should never endorse irreversable punishment of another human being.

After he takes the position before one set of voters (that they want to hear), he later side steps that position by saying that he was misunderstood, his statements are being taken out of context, or that the attack is simply divisive.

Obama sending out a statement which preceeds the SCOTUS decision is silliness. Ever since the Supreme Court heard the arguments, most people understood that SCOTUS was signalling that they would correctly opine that the 2nd Amendment was an 'Individual Right'.
