Congressman Bill Delahunt of Massachusetts today made an amazingly outrageous comment during a House hearing. Watch the clip below:
"I'm glad they finally have a chance to see you?" That would be Al Qaeda? Making matters worse, Delahunt offered an embarrassing effort to clean up his mess, saying he meant that he was happy to see Addington. Seriously.
"I'm sure they are watching. I'm glad they finally have a chance to see you, Mr. Addington, given your penchant for being unobtrusive."
Not much room for interpretation there Congressman.
Of course, this is a statement that would be utterly pedestrian on many of the left wing blogs these days, particularly those which wield so much authority over the left wing of the Democrats. After all, it was Markos Moulitsas "Kos" Zuniga who said of civilian contractors killed in Iraq: "I feel nothing over the death of merceneries. [sic] They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them."
As Allahpundit remarked today " this is our politics now." The interesting part will be seeing if he is taken to task for his remarks. Especially in light of the enormous and widespread left outrage over Charlie Black's remarks.
It should be depressing that a Congressman is happy for any boon to Al Qaeda. It's a bleak commentary that such a thing will be met with "ho-hums" by so many.
As for me, I know exactly what you meant, Congressman, exactly what you said. I'm disgusted by it. I am glad that Americans finally get to see you, and your true colors. Colors which compel you to feel a moment of cheer at the good fortune that your BFFs at Al Qaeda HQ have a little more information they can use for ill in their war against America. Feel free to share that at your next "Yay for Terrorists" slumber party.
By the way, Redstate.com's Moe Lane fills us in on who Delahunt has been supporting in his role as super delegate. Here's a hint, it's not Hillary.
