DOES ANYONE REALLY CARE WHAT HAGEL WANTS?

Hagel sounds like he is working every angle to get a job. "Pick me." "Pick me." The same holds true for a few Democratic supporters of Obama. Ulterior motives, no doubt. Focus on self instead of the American ciizens & country is appearing to be the norm. We NEED a president who is truly FOR the people. Obama is not it.

Joyce, I agree with you all the way. We'd probably lose this country with Obama. Whether he's a good speaker or not, he still lacks the most important things we need in our next President, like honesty, experience, knowledge, and love for the people of our nation.

Reading these comments is sad. What do you think has happened people? The current administration has about put us in hades, with their policies. He lacks the most imports things you need? I am a republican that is disappointed in our current leadership, the direction of this campaign and the party in general. We have failed miserably and to ignore that is indeed a mistake. We must hold our party to a higher standard. I think that although we might be hurt further this fall, it will force the change that is needed within to once again allow us to lead this nation appropiately. I don't think of Hagel as a traitor or disloyal, all of our first loyalties should be to our country.

Republican Chuck Hagel has made no secret of his affection for Barack Obama. Neither has Larry S. That doesn't make it right.

What a hoot conservatives are. You all have no problem with Joe Liebermann traipsing around the country with McCain. Aside from his stance on Iraq, Liebermann has one of the most liberal voting records in the Senate. Chuck Hagel is my new hero.

It's amazing the number of men who have such affection for Barack Obama. A little disconcerting.

Both Hegel and Obama are very smart. Dumb people do not like smart people. Great people are always attacked by those with small minds, e.g., Christ was crucified. Judging by the comments here, my guess is that the typical neocon thinks that everyone is as smart as they are. Because their motives were selfish, they brought what was a great country to the brink of collapse. I understand Hagel's personal contempt for GWB, but he couldn't possibly agree with Barack X more than he does with McCain or else he's already past Democrat stage and now he's too a Marxist. I know Hagel is concerned about his son in Iraq but guess what? McCain has 2 sons serving in the current war. McCain is a hero from a family of heroes raising up a new generation of heroes!

Have we had the election yet, I thought the presidential election is suppose to be in November of this year, so what cabient is Hagel talking about? This country is in bad condition now, and it will be in worst condition if Obama become president.

One can take an innocuous quote of Hagel's like, "I simply disagree with McCain more often than when I disagree with Obama," and people here twist it into some sort of perverse affection for the Illinois Senator.

In regards to what other countries think of what is going on here, the vast majority of the developed, civilized world is looking forward to working with Obama as president. The only people who outright loathe Obama are generally the highly conservative base of the Republican party and people who were putting all their chits on Senator Clinton. Most everyone else thinks he is at least tolerable.

Hagel seems to have over-looked something--something the Democrats have hidden under the rug. Obama can never be sworn in as president because--UNDER APPLICABLE LAW AS IN EFFECT AT THE TIME OBAMA WAS BORN--HE'S NOT CONSTITUTIONALLY ELIGIBLE TO BECOME PRESIDENT. Despite the fact that Obama was born in the US and had one parent with US citizenship, for him to have become a citizen upon his birth, that parent had be at least 19 at the time of his birth (that is, under the relevant provision of the controlling law, had to have lived in the US for at least 5 years after turning 14)-and his sole American parent was only 18 at the time of Obama’s birth. (When Obama was born, babies did not become US citizens just because they were born in the US, or just because one parent was an American.) By law, Obama is not a natural born citizen of the US. (This may sound nuts to some, but ask a lawyer to read the controlling Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, a/k/a the McCarren-Walter Act, as in effect in 1961.)
