When are the Dems going to start doing the work of the people who put them in office. This whole government is getting to be a joke. Both sides need to stop the party line crap and get this country right. One more thing, the candidates we have running for the office are a joke but who in thier right mind is going to vote for Obama. How many times is this clown going to change his mind? As an independent, I have been amazed at how Nancy Pelosi has forced her party into defending a completely untenable position. The extreme left wing of the Democratic party is as out of touch as the extreme right wing of the Republican party.
To most of us in the middle, we are left shaking our heads that these parties don't understand that we are Americans first. Our problems are not going to be solved by party politics.
We have to speak with our votes in November.

Obama joined Wright’s militant church, pledging allegiance to a system of “black values” that demonizes white “middle classness” and other mainstream pursuits.

(Obama in his first book, published in 1995, calls such values “sensible.” There’s no mention of them in his new book.)

With the large church behind him, Obama decided to run for political office, where he could organize for “change” more effectively. “As an elected official,” he said, “I could bring church and community leaders together easier than I could as a community organizer or lawyer.”

He could also exercise real, top-down power, the kind that grass-roots activists lack. Alinsky would be proud.

Throughout his career, Obama has worked closely with a network of stone-cold socialists and full-blown communists striving for “economic justice.”

He’s been traveling in an orbit of collectivism that runs from Nairobi to Honolulu, and on through Chicago to Washington.

Yet a recent AP poll found that only 6% of Americans would describe Obama as “liberal,” let alone socialist.

Obama has many dubious associates, and his “people” make all kinds of outrageous statements. Obama uses these people and statements for as long as they are useful, and then he “disavows” them. He’s like Pontius Pilate — his hands and his heart are always “clean” — NOT!

I might be able to support an offshore drilling bill if and only if it contains the following proviso: that every drop extracted must be both refined and sold as fuel within the 50 United States. No exporting to other nations in order to increase ExxonMobil's already obscene profits.

I wonder how many Congressmen from ExxonMobil, aka, the Republican Party, would be willing to support a bill with such a proviso?

First, HELLO CRYSTAL! Always a pleasure to see you around and I think we will be allied again very soon. I don't like what I am seeing lately and my heart just isn't in it. (You know who I am referring to I believe.)

Now, back to Dave. Offshore drilling isn't a short-term answer for anything. It will take years until any oil is actually produced. But, your assessment of Sen. Obama is dead-on.

What is it that is really bugging me these days? The number one issue, by a large margin, is the economy. I haven't seen anything concrete from either candidate really addressing their respective Economic Policy. Sure, you can read where they stand in a broad context. But, it is time for specifics. Lately it is a little piece here and a little piece there and the other candidate lambasting the originator's idea.

Now is the time for Sen. McCain or Sen. Obama to show some leadership and outline a comprehensive plan that addresses all of their economic views. Playing it safe until after the General Election is risky for Sen. McCain because we expect him, with his experience, to be showing this some real leadership. Sen. Obama may or may not have a clue as what to do with the specifics of an economic mess like this, but he still has that same opportunity as Sen. McCain.

I almost feel it is a waiting game with each waiting for the other to go first so they can draw contrasts instead of showing some initiative.

Sen. Obama has more to lose in this game of chicken because it is reinforcing the perception of his lack of substance and experience. Maybe Sen. McCain has earned a little more time in an effort to show some prudence?

Get on with it! If the General Election were held tomorrow, I'd have to go with McCain only because I wouldn't have to fill-in a lot of the blanks. (And there are many.)

Originally my voting for Sen. McCain was meant to be a protest vote because of Sen. Clinton's loss of the nomination fight. Then I decided it was best to vote with my Party. Now, I am wondering if Sen. McCain isn't the better pick after all. Just my opinion. Enjoy your weekend...you too, Crystal!

McCain has spent the week focusing on energy policy, making some surprising, and inaccurate, statements.

Among them:

He said that ending a moratorium on offshore oil drilling "would be very helpful in the short term in resolving our energy crisis." But according to a government report, offshore oil wouldn't have much of an impact on supply or prices until 2030. Update, June 24: At a town hall event on June 23, McCain didn't claim that offshore drilling would lower prices in the short term, but that it would provide "psychological impact that I think is beneficial."


McCain tried to paint Obama as an opponent of nuclear power, yet Obama has said he is open to nuclear energy being part of the solution and has supported bills that contained nuclear subsidies.


He has soft-pedaled the "cap" portion of his cap-and-trade proposal for greenhouse gases, even denying that it would be a mandate. The cap is a mandatory limit, however, and McCain even says so on his Web site.


McCain's new ad, running this week, rightly says that he bucked his party in supporting action on climate change years ago. But its images of windmills and solar panels are misleading in that he supports subsidies for nuclear power, which isn't pictured, and opposes them for wind and solar energy.

McCain continues to say that a suspension of the federal gas tax will lower prices for consumers, though hundreds of economists say he is wrong.
