There seems to be a pitched battle underway to see who can get knocked the farthest off of John McCain's VP shortlist. You may recall South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford trying to come up with some difference between McCain and Bush, or Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's effusive praise of Barack Obama's enrgy plan earlier today.

Now, we have current Veep frontrunner Mitt Romney, going all Dr. McCoy when asked to name a single McCain legislative accomplishment on energy independence.

No need to gild the lily on this one. South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford got fed up with people saying that George W. Bush and John McCain are the same, so he went on CNN to set the record straight. Here's the video, with commentary by my bud, Rachel Maddow, followed by a Sanford constituent teaming up with McCain to buttress the point.
