After a 48 hour reprieve from negative ads, John McCain's camp rejoins the fray with a :30 second spot titled "Family."
McCain's numbers skyrocketed last week. Now they've tapered off. One imagines his campaign is asking itself was it the overseas trip or their celebrity ad with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton? One cause they can control, the other they cannot.
So they restart the celebrity theme.
While the mainstream media mocked the "Celebrity" spot, it does appear very effective. It undermines the entire basis of his campaign and persona, it seeks to turn his strength into a weakness. Clearly, this is a smart political move.
But winning the vision over a new energy policy (gas prices and such) or even the forgotten domestic issue of this cycle - education - would elevate the dialog.
The ad's script reads:

The ad's script reads:
ANNCR: Is the biggest celebrity in the world ready to help your family?
The real Obama promises higher taxes, more government spending. So, fewer jobs.
Renewable energy to transform our economy, create jobs and energy independence, that's John McCain.
JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approved this message.
