As Barack Obama starts a nine day Hawaiian vacation, he's greeted by a new :30 second ad titled "Painful" from the John McCain campaign.
This is a smart spot.
This latest ad is Act 2 in the Obama is not in touch with you message. First was the celebrity spots (here and here). We know celebrities are inherently out-of-touch with common folk.
The poll numbers demonstrate this line of messaging is having an impact and even NY Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer admits its "powerful."
Obama's nine day vacation, during the Olympics, is a risky move for a candidate already on the verge of being commonly percieved as radically out-of-touch with everyday voters.
In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around.
