Michelle Obama, the soon-to-be-nominee's wife, was spotlighted at the DNC tonight with an introductory video and comments by her brother Craig Robinson.
Since Mrs. Obama's "for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country" statement and the overwhelmingly negative reaction and spinning of it since, Michelle needed this opportunity to introduce herself to the voters of this country in a positive light.
The poised and striking Obama is a compelling and competent speaker, loves her girls and family dearly and is passionate about her husband's cause.
Michelle gave some good props to Hillary and reminded us of the upcoming 88th anniversary of woman's suffrage. An unexpected live video appearance by the candidate with some back and forth with Sasha was too cute by half.
In a much more than competent speech, Michelle did what she had to do - introduce herself to the American people as a mother, wife and partner. She expressed the warmth we had hoped for. If after this anyone thinks that she's a scary, militant radical - well, you were never going to vote for Obama anyway.
