The local Denver CBS station is reporting that two arrests have been made in Aurora and Glendale, CO in connection with a possible assassination plot against Barack Obama.
Law enforcement authorities have arrested two men in connection with a possible assassination plot against Sen. Barack Obama at the Democratic Convention in Denver, CBS station KCNC-TV reported Monday.
Police in Aurora, Colo. made a routine traffic stop at 2:38 a.m. Sunday and arrested 28-year-old Tharin Gartrell, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office. Two rifles and methamphetamine were found in the rented pickup truck he was driving. Another law enforcement source says at least one of the rifles was a "sniper rifle".
A subsequent arrest was made at a Glendale hotel. When local police approached the door, the suspect jumped out his 6-story window. He was arrested and treated for a broken ankle.
At least one suspect alluded to targeting Obama. The ATF, Secret Service and FBI are investigating.

CBS4 has now learned at least four people are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to kill Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.
CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass reported one of the suspects told authorities they were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a ... rifle ... sighted at 750 yards."
Law enforcement sources tell Maass that one of the suspects "was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative."

Well, there is a huge danger for any candidate and this type of thing really needs to be taken seriously. Regardless of the fact that I don't want Obama to be president, I certainly DON'T want any violence against Obama or his family or any other politician and the police and secret service are right to be as cautious as they can.

FYI...I live in Delaware..Home of Joe Biden,or as somes like to call him "flip-flop Joe" Also, the only reason his son got attorney general of Delaware is because the "Good ole Boy" system is alive and well in this state. There were others that were MORE qualified for this position. I have nightmares thinking if Obama wins and (God help us) something happens to him, Joe Biden would be president, thats some scary nightmares.

Apparently, most haven't resorted to dropping their heads and admitting that "experience" that everyone claims to NEED hasn't done much for our country the last 8 years. Perhaps, someone not as jaded, paid off, or outside the "buddy system" just may shake up old politics and come out with something that actually works for the people. Having Biden as the V.P. was a good choice - he's old politics, but he does have strong foreign relations experience and this only "plugged" the hole most of McCain's buddies have been harping on. Wonder what they'll come up with next. There is no comparison to the damages Obama could do that McCain would do. Obama '08 for me.

So many Neocons and Repugs posing as Hillary supporters to post on this board. You find your smear campaign has failed woefully and you are resorting to cheap tricks. Your cheap tricks, too, will definitely fail. You need to first rid yourselves of McBush, who seems to be carrying the Bush's dirty baggage. Modonna is right. McBush says he will take America to a 100 year war. And he sang bomb, bomb, bomb Iran. And he has made infammatory statements against Russia that may act as a catalyst to the first nuclear war once he is elected. What else do you need to know that McBush will be even worst than Hitler.

Regardless of who is running, we desperately need to vote Democrat this time around. I have personally done some research on Mr. Obama, and was pleasantly surprised by many of his accomplishments. I believe Obama will do this country right. Sadly, it is next to impossible for him to solve all of the trouble we are currently buried under in only four years. However, I do believe he will get us on the right track. Black, white, or purple should not matter. We all put our pants on one leg at a time. Obama is my choice!!
