It seems that Robert Novak still has a scoop or two left in him. Today, he whipped up a column to deliver the news of yet another conservative naysayer to the idea of John McCain selecting pro-choice Joe Lieberman as his VP. That conservative? Why it's none other than "Traitor Joe" himself:

Influential McCain backers, plus McCain himself, would pick the pro-choice liberal from Connecticut if they thought they could get away with it.

But they can't get away with it--and this has been made clear to McCain by none other than Joe Lieberman himself.

What else can't McCain "get away" with? Altering the GOP platform so that it permits abortion in cases of incest, rape, and when the life of the mother is in danger.

UPDATE: Ugh. Why is no Novak story ever true? Lieberman says the "prince of darkness" is full of it, and that he never told McCain not to pick him. Was this story payback for when McCain's team duped Novak into some free publicity?

IF MCCAIN PICKS A WHITE MALE OR A MORMON AS VP HE WILL LOSE. MCCAIN MUST MAKE HISTORY BY HIMSELF AND PICK A WOMAN FOR VP AND GET ALL THOSE CLINTON SUPPORTERS, WOMEN, CATHOLICS AND UNDECIDED TO HIS SIDE.

No matter who McCain chooses as his VP, David, Tommy, and all the rest of the highly-paid Obama drones, will spin, turn, twist, squeeze, roll, hammer, nail, and screw him/her to death, like they did with Hillary!!!

But that's okay, because we only ignore their stupid futile attempts to convince us that Obama is something he's not!

Still Clinton to McCain 2008!

Lieberman probably has been promised the Secretary of State position. This is why he is showboating

McCain blasted Senator Obama for not picking Senator Clinton as his running mate because of the number of delegates and votes she received. Using this same logic Mike Huckabee should be McCain running mate because he got more delegates (278) than any of the other candidates and 4,276,046 votes. If McCain does not choose Mike Huckabee will the McCainites rile up in protest? Probably not. McCain and the McCainites play by two sets of rules. One for McCain and one for Senator Obama.

The fact that McCain is even thinking of nominating or wishing he could nominate a pro-choice, basically liberal Democrat as his Vice-President proves that all of the conservative posturing he is going through to keep the Republican base is mere pretense and that he is full of shit.

Don't be fooled, conservative Republicans! And don't sell out your principles. VOTE BOB BARR!

The only problem, Carmelo, the pickings are mighty slim for McCain as far as female Republicans. Condi Rice would not work (and she doesn't want it)- her ties to the Bush administration would make it tough for McCain, Kay Bailey Hutchinson is dull, Carly Fiorini is way too liberal a Republican - not much left to choose from.

When Biden was asked by a reporter the other day if he was going to be the VP, Biden replied "Not me".
So, the leak is out,

joe Liebermann will be McCain's pick.

I seem to rememeber that John Kerry, when he was trying to appeal to moderate Democrats and Republicans floated a few names as his possible VP. Some of the combinations were thought to be insane and others were thought to be brilliant. The one that got a lot of press and blogger notice and positive "spin", as I recall, was the moderate from Arizona -- John McCain.
