I am wondering why McCain would choose such a unknown that starts off her campaign with a lie about not wanting the bridge to nowhere when she is quoted in the paper earlier as supporting it!

I think BHO's choice of Biden over Hillary was an intentional slap in the face of the Clintons and women in politics. I think by BHO not selecting Hillary as his running mate he was really saying that he feels women are folly when it comes to politics and that the Clintons' era is over and he is the new media magnet, not Bill & Hillary.
As for Sarah Palin, I have been researching her since McCain solidified his party's nomination in the Spring and I was hoping he would select her because not only is she a woman, but she is NOT a Washington insider! That, more than BHO campaigning on a utopian, fantasy of change, will set the Republicans apart and prove where the real change is coming from.
McCain has always been viewed as a maverick and this selection proves that he is truly an independent thinker who is not afraid to make the risky but thoughtful decision. BHO sat in the Illinois State Senate and voted "present" more than not because he couldn't or didn't want to be decisive for fear of stepping on someone's feelings. That's what being a legislator is all about. Sometimes you have to make the decision based on what's best & right for the majority regardless of what it does to your own little world you live in. Since he's been in the U.S. Senate, BHO has spent more time campaigning for President than legislating!
I foresee a lot of disenchanted Hillary supporters jumping on to the McCain bandwagon. I also foresee a lot of BHO supporters reconsidering their support too! And a lot of them will be men who admire the fact that Sarah Palin is a hunter and an athlete as well as an upsatnding citizen and devoted wife!
Here comes the avalanche!

Absolutely. My Wife is beside herself with excitement about Sarah Palin. We were both life long Democrats but after the political assassination of Hillary Clinton by Howard Dean and the Democrats we both registered as Republicans. McCain is a genius. What a master stroke choosing Sarah Palin. Wow! Sarah Palin is totally cool and how smart and nice this decent woman is. The Democrats just don't get it! Vore McCain Palin 2008

Ramona Fuenfhausen comment at the top of the blog shows how dumb Democrats truly are. Sarah Palin is First Class all the way. Sarah Palin is honest honorable and decent not to mention extremely smart. These are all qualities not understood by Democrats. Vote McCain Palin 2008 and save America.

Liberal women are so full of crap! The only experience Hillary had was first lady before she moved to NY so she could run for the senate. The only reason she became a senator is because she had to have SOMETHING tangible on her resume to run for President. She started campaigning for President the day she started her run for Senator. Without her husbands name.... where would she have been? She ran on her husband's back. Sarah Palin is new to the national stage... which some would say is a good thing. I thinik it is hilarious because the first statement from the Obama campaign was in regard to her "inexperience".... that message was squashed quickly when they realized bringing attention to her "inexperience" would only highlight Obama's inexperience. It is brilliant. Sarah Palin is just the kind of woman real American women should admire! She is a tough woman who is still feminine, she is the "bread winner", she is successful in the working world all while raising a family... she is a conservationist and she is in favor of responsible drilling.... I think all you Obama/Biden people best not under estimate her... you might be thrown for a loop. The best thing she has going for her? She is an outsider.... of the beltway. If ANYONE can relate to the real struggles of Americans, it will be her!! Not Obama, Biden or even McCain flying here and there on private planes, rubbing elbows with Hollywood celebrities and powerful politicians.... she is fresh and this American can not wait to see what happens next! Of any of these buffoons running for President, she probably has her finger on the pulse of America. One argument Liberal posters, etc. had made before was President Bush should send his daughters to Iraq.... Well the Republicans have 2 candidates with soldiers in/going to Iraq. That is huge, for a mother to send her child off to war. (Yes, Senator Biden's son Beau is apparently going to be deployed in October.... ) It is very intriuging.
I would hope people would give Palin a chance to get to know her before she is prejudged on paper. Especially by LIBERALS.... are they not the party of "open-mindedness, inclusion and feminism?" I think it is ironic that she is being painted ibto a box before we are given the opportunity to know her. But then again, maybe the Dems underestimating her would be a good thing. I am just waiting for the Obama campaign to show their true feelings about powerful women who have different views than their own... they are bound to piss people off. Just as they jumped the gun yesterday, it will happen again. There are several "land mines" around this woman and someone is going to step in it!

Sarah Palin is a quality person with high standards. She has a true love, marriage and family and she is a hard working American. She will be our best Vice President ever. Compare Sarah Palin to the dysfunctional Democrats Bill Clinton, John Edwards, Obama and his wife. Sarah Palin is High Class. Actions speak louder than words just look at Sarah Palin for an excellent role model. She is Fantastic. Vote McCain and Palin 2008.

Suzanne10:54AMAug 30th 2008 blog entry listed above. Perfect. Liberals are stupid and just don't get it. Democratic party is male dominate chauvinistic 'old boys club'. Republican support women and family and celebrate the accomplishments of women and support equal pay for equal work. Take that Democrats.

I love the choice of Sarah Palin. She is electricfying like Lady Margaret Thatcher. Sarah, please do whatever you think is best for the nation; do not be threathened by "sour grapes" as there are many people who are jealous of you; and use all the guts in the world to cut taxes and wasterful spending, create job opportunities; for example. People like to discredit your youth but please do not worry about this issue as you are so, so intelligent that some people do not have. You do not have to attend an ivy league college to be intelligent either. I have proven myself.

What a joke! I'm an loyal Clinton supporter that WAS undecided before the convention... but you think that handing us Sarah Palin someone who HAS NO DEMOCRATIC VIEWS is going to change my mind then you're crazy. You could of picked Kathryn Ann Bailey Hutchison who believes abortion shouldn't be outlawed, and she also believes that the decision of the United States Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade was appropriate and secures a constitutional right, and that it should not be overturned. If McCain would of picked her I would of gladly supported him. You give me Sarah Palin more conservative than George Bush. Someone who believes that abortion isn't an option even if the woman or girl was raped, even in cases of incest! You've got to be kidding me! How could I give up my beloved Hillary for her, someone who goes against every grain of Hillary's own belief?! I'm sorry maybe you won over those who pretend they're die hard democratic Hillary supporters, but not me because I'm not lying when I say I'm a REAL DEMOCRATIC HILLARY SUPPORTER! If McCain would of picked Kay Bailey, then I would of given him a real good look. Thanks for just making me decide not to vote for you McCain, and give us women more credit then that! We're not stupid!!

I suppose women who were supporting Hillary just because she is a woman will jump at the chance to elect a female Vice President. If, however, those women actually thought about the issues and supported Hillary because of those issues, I don't see how they could stomach the idea of another anti-abortion, gun-toting, right-wing Vice President regardless of gender. I thought women were supposed to be smarter than that!

I was a Democrat.... I could not support a man who is not qualified to run for President. Why should I follow the party when I feel that this man Obama is the worst thing for this country. He has made promises that he will not be able to keep. Where was his brilliance when Russia invaded Georgia. McCain responded with strength. Russia is going to be a big problem and I feel better with a McCain in office. It’s you Obama supporters that can never point out why it is that Obama is qualified to be the Prez...... It's because he is not qualified.....MCCain! 08!!! P.S. there are lots of us Democrats who have a mind of our own.

Wow. I may just have to vote for McCain now. What a surprise. I am a democrat who loved Hillary. I am not so big on Obama. It is nothing in particular, I just don't think he is the one. Sarah Palin looks really good right now. I think they may have the right combo there. There has not been a republican I have liked in many, many a year. I used to be one, but had to change when the country was turning in to a place that did not seem to be for all people. I am not an elitist and I saw a country that was becoming more and more bent toward a few on the backs of many.

I to am excited having Sarah Palin on the ticket. What a well rounded woman! I see her future to be very bright in government. I think the woman who is running Germany is a good example of what a woman can do. The other woman McCain could have chosen (Kay Bailey) would have been quite boring and this gal certainly is not. Lots of energy to pump up the ticket. McCain/Palin 08
