Update: Reuters is reporting mixed messages from the McCain campaign on when Palin will face the newsmedia for the first time.
"Within the next few days and I'm strongly recommending that she come on 'Face the Nation' with Bob Schieffer," McCain said in an interview that was taped on Saturday. But McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, would not go that far. "She'll agree to an interview when we think it's time and when she feels comfortable doing it," David said on "Fox News Sunday."
Glad we got that cleared up?
In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," Senator and Obama running mate Joe Biden threw down the gauntlet for GOP veep nominee Sarah Palin to come out and, um, meet the press: (from Politico)
"She's a smart, tough politician," Biden told Tom Brokaw in a "Meet the Press" interview live from Wilmington, Del. "So I think she's going to be formidable. Eventually, she's going to have to sit in front of you like I'm doing and have done. Eventually, she's going to have to answer questions and not be sequestered. Eventually, she's going to have to answer on the record."
The McCain campaign says Palin will eventually do interviews, but none are scheduled.
Biden, too, took a weekend off from the Sunday shows after he was named as running mate for Barack Obama, although Biden appeared on CBS' "60 Minutes."
It was a strong appearance by Biden, as he also tagged as "demeaning" the assumption that Hillary Clinton supporters would vote for her polar opposite simply because she's a woman.
This follows closely on the heels of Barack Obama's first direct swipe at Palin yesterday, on the subject of Palin's rhetoric on pork and pockets full of bacon.
The McCain campaign's response to these challenges will be a real test of their ability to eschew the cheese with their whine, and tackle the substance of the contrasts the Democrats are drawing.

ITS NOT IMPORTANT WHAT BIDEN WHATS ITS IMPORTANT WHAT SARAH PALIN WANTS. THE LIBERAL LEFT WINGER RADICALS WHO WRITE FOR THE NEWS HAVE UNFAIRLY ATTACKED HER AND MADE UP LIES AND VIOLATED HER RIGHTS AS A WOMAN RUNNING FOR OFFICE. I DONT BLAME HER FOR NOT SPEAKING TO PRESS AND IF I WAS HER I WOULD SEND THEM A MSG AND I GUESS SHE IS DOING JUST THAT US ARMY RETIRED HARD

We are all going to be in deep doo doo if the Republicans get into office. Think about what would happen if this lady has her finger on the button? More of the lame same. As for her getting interviewed. If she is not reading off a teleprompter she will have no clue on what to say. Joe Biden will eat her for dinner in any debate. Their is nothing behind her except alot of skeletons which seem to be coming out on a daily basis

Barack Obama has been the presumptive nominee of the Democratic party for more than three months. He has spent that time avoiding a debate with John McCain.

Joe Biden is the most effective liar that the democrats have. He can stare the facts straight in the face and tell a different story with no facial tics or tells. He's probably one hell of a poker player. that's why Obama picked him. When his talking points run out his presentation does seem to fall flat. Palin will stomp him into the ground politically unless the willing media runs interference for him.
I am still trying to figure out why Obama won't debate John McCain !!!!! Back in the primaries all I heard from Obama was how eager he was to debate McCain, but refused to do 10 town hall debates when given the opportunity. Whats up Obama?????? I thought you were eager and just couldn't wait to debate John McCain !!!!! All talk !!!! Can talk the talk but can't walk the walk !!!!!! Just words !!!! No substance !!!!

I dont think you libs want to be comparing Palin and obama on telepromter gaffes. When hers went out, she continued on beautifly. When obama's went out, he was ready to give little Timmy a breathalizer test.

Who's going to tell obama what to do if Biden kicks the bucket? We all know obama can't make a decision and stick with. He voted present 130 times, instead of yes or no. 6 of those times he said he pushed the wrong button and wanted his vote changed. We can't afford a president that pushed the wrong button 6 times.

The GOP's "media is evil" routine they played at their convention was very calculated: it sets the stage for Sarah Palin. Knowing Palin is a novice on the national and internation scene, the GOP is lowering expectations. Therefore, if she says something stupid or has a major gaffe they will simply blame the interviewer. Look for lots of conservatives to be calling the media outlets "sexist" and "bullies" over the next two months. In fact, they are doing it now, and the woman has yet to face a single reporter. I have to hand it to the GOP operatives: they are marketing geniuses.

Obama the Chicago Machine Politician vs Palin the Reformer:
Obama is a politician backed by Chicago's Daley machine and (who) never once challenged the political corruption in Chicago and Illinois. Not ever.
The contrast with Palin—who actually went after the Republican Party bosses in Alaska on the corruption issue—is profound and challenging for the Obama-friendly media that willfully ignore his lack of leadership on the reform front, yet are consumed to find out if Palin has an overdue library book.
The more I learn about Palin, she seems downright scary. Geroge W in a pantsuit. Anti-abortion even in cases of rape and incest. Anti-gay. Anti-environment. Her attitude toward adversaries in AK sound downright ruthless. None of this sounds like McCain's speech. And some of the lame excuses for Palin's experience are downright laughable: overseeing the AK National Guard, a major elective office for only 20 months, Alaska borders Russia, being against earmarks (after she was for them). As a white male, I'm not impressed with her. If McCain wanted to getting women flocking, he's succeeded: flocking to Obama. OK, people vote for Prez, not VP. True. And so, if this is an indication of his judgment, I'll go with Obama.

Obama 3 AM Phone Call: The Chicago Way
When Obama is president and the red phone rings at 3 a.m. and ...the Russians have put planes in the air, don't worry about it. He'll make a decision. He'll call White House chief of staff Bill Daley. Bill will call Rich. And Rich will call the boss of all the brothers, Michael Daley, the city's top zoning lawyer who'll be running the Justice Department, and a decision will be made. So don't worry.

No matter what Sarah Palin says in an interview, it will be wrong unless it agrees 100% with what hard core Democrats agree with, so why bother! I was in the grocery store today, there were 15 magazines at the checkout area. 10 had smiling pictures of Obama and his family and positive headlines and 2 had unhappy pictures of Palin and negative headlines and two had negative headlines of McCain and no picuture. Perhaps if the media were truly unbiased and just presented the facts and let us spin them to ourselves the way they fit for us and our family, we would not have so many outrageous comments!! It is wrong to speak of Obama's drug use as a teenager, even though he admits to it in his biography, but okay to report Palin's husband's DUI 21 years ago? Double standard. Obama is promising everything to everyone just to get elected. WE know it cannot be done. Obama says race is not an issue then accuses the Republicans of using race when HE is the only one to bring it up. He constantly tries to utilize class warfare--what's wrong with trying to help everyone? He knows that Bush and McCain are nothing alike, and but he can only win if he ties them together. Had Bill Clinton not decimated the military and the intelligence department, 9/11 would not have happened and we would not be in Iraq. There were 84 continous months of economic growth under Bush (only the last few have not shown growth) Jobs until recently have been at the highest levels ever, pay at their highest levels ever, but Obama says that things like the mortgage mess (too many people buying homes bigger than they could afford-greedy, and too many businesses ripping the greedy off)and the banking industry are Bush's fault, but the President has little control over either. So instead of always blaming everything on Bush, (which liberals do to get even with Repubs for trying to impeach Clinton)and trying to solve everything with taxing the rich (you do know that capital gains tax will go up on your little 401K or simple IRA even if you have NO other income when you take a distribution to live on or to pay a catastrophic bill?_ HUM, i thought he was only going to tax the rich--sounds like Grandma is going to get it too!!! McCain will take away your Social Security--couldn't do it if he wanted to. Stop dealing with emotion--tell the truth. The bottom line. Obama wants the government to give everything to everyone and the rich should pay for it. McCain wants to stop wasting money and there is PLENTY of money to help those who try to help themselves.
