    Obama and Age Demographics

    Posted:

Tommy hit this one a little earlier, but there's one aspect to this we may all be overlooking...

    The Associated Press:
John McCain is mocked as an out-of-touch, out-of-date computer illiterate in a television commercial out Friday from Barack Obama as the Democrat begins his sharpest barrage yet on McCain's long Washington career.

This doesn't strike me as a very smart attack and something in the internals of the University of Cincinnati Poll reminded me why:

Voters ages 18-29 overwhelmingly backed Obama, 60%-33%. Voters 65 and older sided with McCain, 49%-40%.

Obama is losing voters 65 and older by 9 points and he attacks McCain as being out of touch and computer illiterate? Maybe that sells well with the under 29 crowd, but it's the seniors who are actually trustworthy voters. The young folks Obama already has. Oh and Ohio is definitely one of those states where the population demographics tilt toward older folks.

If Obama wants to correct the perception that his campaign is flailing around, this is definitely not the way to do that.
