Obama Goes After McCain on Age?

The Obama campaign fired the opening volley in its post-convention, This-is-not-John-Kerry's-Oldsmobile campaign today, releasing an ad called "Still."
Things have changed in the last 26 years. But McCain hasn't. He admits he still doesn't know how to use a computer, can't send an email.
Ouch. My mom still hasn't completely gotten the hang of answering machines, but even she knows how to send an email.

On the heels of his reprehensible "Education" ad, you might think John McCain would avoid responding to this ad by whining about "personal attacks." Don't bet on it. And if the McCain campaign starts shrieking about "ageism," they may be in for a surprise.

"John McCain's problem isn't that he's old," the response from Obama will start, "...it's that he's out of touch. The suggestion that this ad is ageist is an insult to seniors everywhere, who have made it a point of pride to stay in touch with a changing world."

John McCain has had his turn signal on all the way down this highway, and the clock at the White House has been flashing 12:00 for 8 years now. It's time to reset it.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
