Today, The New York Times leads with a smear piece entitled, "Once Elected, Palin Hired Friends and Lashed Foes." Likewise, today's Washington Post competes in the ever-further-downward spiral with its own hit piece, "As Mayor of Wasilla, Palin Cut Own Duties, Left Trail of Bad Blood." Cronyism, lashing out, cutting personal duties and a trail of blood.
NRO cites Jen Rubin's criticism of the NYT's hatchet job, finding that the facts hardly warrant the egregious language and condemnatory tone of the article. The Post article supplies even less substance - by it's rationale, every elected official who fills a cabinet with trusted allies is guilty of front-page worthy scandal.
It bears mentioning that the media have allotted absolutely no time to investigating the myriad "scandals" of Obama and Biden. If the Democratic pair were subjected to the same standard of scrutiny, the front pages of every newspaper in America would run for a week in order to capture their many scandals.
The media hates Sarah Palin. They despise her for routing radical feminism, they curse her for boosting McCain in the polls and they condescend her for the conservatism she refuses to remit. They are willing to shamelessly degrade themselves without limit in order to lend support to the Democratic ticket. Today's leading Washington Post article on Obama, even as he rolls out ads which patently lie about McCain, is titled, "Obama Points to the Issues: Ignore Attacks, Democrat Implores."
Were it not for the media's liberal bias and partisan interference, McCain would be leading Obama by twice the current spread. The greatest hindrance to enlightened democracy in America is the ignorance and prejudice promulgated by our media outlets. When every media story is crafted, manipulated or simply invented with an intent to forwarding a particular party or agenda, the free press serves no greater objective than to enslave the free will and reasonable discretion of the voting populace.

McCain would be leading by twice as much? WHAT? The last 8 years have dessimated the low and middle class of this country. The current policies, of which McCain continues to support, would only eliminate the reamining people who successfully "survived" the last 8 years. McCain's policies will only continue to support the rich, outsource all jobs to overseas (for the quick buck), and drive 95% of the population into bankruptcy. Exactly how has the American people "thrived" under a Republican rule? Only those with deep pockets have thrived and when they suck us dry, will they then go after other countries to dominate and bleed them of any of their riches? With McCain and Palin willing to go to war, I guess so. McCain and Palin are dangerous people and voting for them would only secure our demise as a "once powerful nation" and turn us into a nation of poverty being given a stipend to live off of by our small group of rich rulers. Obama recognizes the oppression Americans have been under and we should get him in office before the first stipend is mailed.

I've been looking both left and right. And all I see is the right flip-flopping around--just like they accused Kerry a while back. McCain says he is for change, but voted with Bush almost all of the time. Palin says she was against the bridge--but took all the money anyway. She says she is against earmarks now, but paid Wasilla's first lobbyist to get earmarks then.

The media has no reason to be "furious" at her popularity as it sels newspapers and drives up the ratings of the news shows as they are watched.
The only reason fof the media to have any negative attitudes would be frustration at:
(1) McCain preventing the press from interviewing her until her very recent and limited dog & pony shows.
(2) getting criticized as "unfair" if they ask her anything off script and follow up any stupid answer she gives with a clarifying question.
Justin - Why is it that your side of this election is hell-bent on keeping up the myth of the "angry, liberal media" and persectuion by the media?
The mock outrage and red-herring issues can't hide the avoidance by McCain of discussing specifics of the real issues.

Forget Palin--go after Father Time. Why hasn't McCain released his full medical records to the American People. Everyone else has. Where's his full financial records? I mean the ones that include his spouse's vast amounts of money? Let the courts up there in Alaska finish with Palin. Why hasn't McCain released his POW records? What's the deal with the Republican Party? Why do they get to side step the law so much? Where is the American Public's outrage? This party side steps the Constitution and now side steps what has been the normal procedure of elections? What gives? Get this crap out and then let's move on to the issues--Iraq, Iran, Russia, China, Venezula, Health Care, the economy, taxes, jobs, outsourcing, immigration--these are the real issues people. Reps: keep your guns, who cares--I personally love them. Don't like abortion, fine. Worship God any way you want. These are NOT the issues. Those are issues you Reps claim you're against--too much government in your lives. Move on for crissakes. None of that is going to matter if you don't open your eyes and focus on the REAL issues. If we continue borrowing money from China and they call in those loans, we are all screwed. If war comes from Russia or Iran--get ready for WWIII! And we don't have the military numbers to battle that kind of war--and Putin knows it! And if you think a war with Russia would be fought over there, guess again. He's got a real good buddy down there in Venezula who hates us more than Putin does. So unless you people want to start spending money on those Rosetta Stone Language Programs (order either the Chinese one or the Russian one), you had better wake up and get to the issues. The media has had the past twelve months to look into Obamas background, and they have! It just annoys the hell out of the Republicans that their most distracting questions about Obama have been asked, answered investigated, and found to be false or insignificant. The same thing is happening to Gov. Palin, just at a somewhat faster pace because of her lack of national exposure prior to McCains choice.

It's SO obvious that the McCain campaign will say and do whatever it takes to get elected, disregarding truth or substance in their message. No lie or deception is too outrageous. What amazes me is that some people actually fall for their fraud! McCain KNOWS that he'll never be elected by aligning himself with DubYa and his failed administration, so he's had to clone Obama's promise of change and put up a smokescreen of snarky attacks, half-truths and outright lies to distance himself from his own party and to avoid meaningful dialog on real issues. His platform, his record, his campaign managers and his speech writer all make it obvious he is another George Bush. Just like the native Americans who sold Manhattan for a handful of bright, shiny glass beads, people are falling for the swindle - attracted by the flash, not by the value of what is being offered. The media is simply stating the obvious. America, don't fall for the McCain/Palen fraud!

Of course most intelligent people are furious. Why should the news media sweep facts under the rug? Palin-McCain tickets should be in the strange but true section. People of other nations watching, must be snickering. They must think that America has gone bunkers. America the great has gone to ruins and there is a chance she will be led by a hockey mom who was mayor of a small town of about 5,000 2 years ago.

Sarah Palin will survive the fury of the Media because she has the backing and support of the Republican Party. The DNC was as guilty as the media in trying to destroy Hillary Clinton's campaign. Nobody's upset about Palin's popularity. People are upset that she's HIDING FROM THE AMERICAN PUBLIC!!! To most reasonable AMERICANS it is incomprehensible that someone can become president without ever facing them unscripted and coached. If she needs to be protected from the AMERICAN PEOPLE then its a pretty GOOD BET that SHE DOESN'T HAVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLES INTEREST AT HEART. Gov. Palin don't hide from the American People. Come out in the open so we all can see who you really are. Otherwise, just go back to Alaska and continue to live your quiet, obscure life. You're a public official who says she believes in the American People. Prove it by coming out of hiding.

This quote comes from The Washington Times, an editiorial about Obama: "He reversed course with dizzying speed on NAFTA, FISA, public financing of campaigns, whether the D.C. gun ban was constitutional, meeting with rogue leaders without preconditions and the unity of Jerusalem." And that's the short list. This is just one of my problems with Obama, he says and does what is politically expedient. He uses people like rungs on a ladder, then dumps them when they become an embarrassment or are of no further use. He befriends questionable people, felons, anti-American radicals and terrorists. And THIS is the kind of man American's are eager to elect? A man that talks in high lofty ideals, but cannot live up to those ideals?
McCain has his short-comings, but he is, and always has been, obsessed with service to a higher cause........his country. Obama is obessed only with his own "glorious destiny".

There is not doubt that many in the media are biased to the left. They do not like her because she is an outsider and because she is not the media's personification of their ideal feminist candidate. So, they attack her from every angle and use the most convaluted series of half-truths and innuendo. Then commenters like PCL and Rias, with their limited ability to reason and their hatred of the right, get hold of it and spread it like wildfire as if it were certain truth sent down from high. Luckily, most of us are reasonable, and moderate and we are the ones who will decide this election.
