Obama:Thanks But No Thanks on Debate Delay

Barack Obama and the Commission on Presidential Debates have weighed in on John McCain's pleas to postpone both the first presidential debate and the vice presidential debate until things are going better for him...er...I mean, until there is a plan in place to deal with the current economic crisis. Their response, like a yard-sale Yahtzee game: No Dice. From MSNBC:
"This is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days will be responsible for dealing with this mess," Obama told reporters in Clearwater, Fla.

"In my mind, it's more important than ever that we present ourselves to the American people and describe where we want to take the country and where we want to take the economy," he said.
Obama went on to deliver this semi-zinger:
"It's going to be part of the president's job to be able to deal with more than one thing at once."
McCain has made a big mistake here, overplaying a hand he should have folded. By asking to postpone the debates, McCain has shown Obama his belly, and derived no political gain from it whatsoever.

McCain had better get into the gym and train like Rocky Balboa, because anything short of a knockout on Friday will confirm for people that McCain was shrinking from the fight.
