Let's swing it back around to Sarah, now. Shall we? While we may never hear her in a debate or answer another substantive question, we can reflect on this. (h/t HuffPo)
In her interview with CBS News anchor Katie Couric, Governor Palin appeared to be unable to come up with a single thing that John McCain has done in 26 years of Senate work to help with regulating the financial markets that are today spiraling out of control:
COURIC: You've said, quote, "John McCain will reform the way Wall Street does business." Other than supporting stricter regulations of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac two years ago, can you give us any more example of his leading the charge for more oversight?
PALIN: I think that the example that you just cited, with his warnings two years ago about Fannie and Freddie--that, that's paramount. That's more than a heck of a lot of other senators and representatives did for us.
COURIC: But he's been in Congress for 26 years. He's been chairman of the powerful Commerce Committee. And he has almost always sided with less regulation, not more.
PALIN: He's also known as the maverick though. Taking shots from his own party, and certainly taking shots from the other party. Trying to get people to understand what he's been talking about--the need to reform government.
COURIC: I'm just going to ask you one more time, not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation?
PALIN: I'll try to find you some and I'll bring them to you.
I guess she didn't have this 1999 McCain quote prepared either:
There's a number of reasons why we are experiencing this almost unprecedented prosperity. Among them are a lack of regulation, free trade, and most importantly, we are going through a revolution the likes of which the world has seldom seen.
Here's some rare footage of Palin answering questions:
IF KATIE REALLY WANTED THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION..SHE SHOULD HAVE ASKED JOHN MCCAIN. BUT THAT REALLY WASN'T THE POINT OF THE QUESTION....WAS IT? "THAT AWFUL SARAH PALIN, SHE WASN'T ABLE TO MEMORIZE MCCAINS LIFE IN 3 WEEKS". YOU ARE VERY SAD...DENISE.

Couric was so condescending toward Palin. So was Charlie Gibson. If she took that tone with a man, no one would stand for it. Did you see that Biden said that when the stock market crashed in 1929 President Roosevelt went on tv and reassured the nation. Talk about revisionist history. Hoover was president then and tv was not widely available for another 20 years. How come no one talks about his blunders??? I am looking forward to the Palin-Biden debate.

THE INVISIBLE CANDIDATE!!!11:19PMSep 24th 2008
The September 16th Washington Post summed up the gravity of this issue on its front page: "Yesterday's meltdown on Wall Street brought the economy roaring back to the center of the presidential campaign, and the question for the final seven weeks of the general-election campaign is whether Barack Obama or John McCain can convince voters that he is capable of leading the country out of the morass." If the meltdown on Wall Street and bailout by taxpayers is the deciding factor of this election:
* Which candidate has the best record for consumer protection, standing up for small investors and taxpayers in America? * Which candidate has been warning us all along the way of the dangers of deregulating Wall Street? * Which candidate has a plan to get us out of this morass, restore accountability and transparency to Wall Street, and can actually be trusted to do what he says?
His name is not Barack Obama or Senator McCain, and he is invisible as far as the media is concerned.
Yesterday, Ralph Nader issued a chronology of the lead-up to the current meltdown, and his ten-point plan to restore a semblance of accountability, transparency, and incentives that would steer Wall Street away from short-termist, out-of-control casino capitalism toward fulfilling its proper function of efficiently allocating capital to advance our long-term economic well-being. The plan was sent out to 6,000 reporters, including specific e-mails and phone calls to the editors and reporters from the major newspapers that are on this beat and evening TV news producers. Aside from the Fox cable business channel, no major media picked it up.
After a series of editorial board meetings we did this week with the Washington Post and New York Times Washington Bureau, I think I know why. When we asked them what their standards for covering Ralph Nader were, it was clear they didn't have any. But Fred Hiatt, the editorial page editor at the Washington Post, hit the nail on the head. He said, "I like some of your issues, but I don't see how you being a presidential candidate affects them. I see you more as a consumer advocate." In other words, if Ralph was just some guy running for president on the ballot in 45 states with 5 percent support in the polls, he might actually get some coverage in that role, rather than having his giant stature as a consumer advocate trivialize his presidential candidate stature.
THIS SHOWS THE WORLD THAT WE DAMN SURE DON'T NEED THIS LITTLE SILLY ASS ONE STEP FROM LEADING THIS NATION. THIS GIRL IS JUST PLAIN DUMB AND IGNORANT TO ANY FACTS EXCEPT THE LIES THAT SHE TOLD AT THE CONVENTION : SHE'S NEVER BEEN TO IRELAND, IRAQ ; JUST TO MONTANA , SHE DID ATTENT 6 DIFFERENT SCHOOLS FOR 6 DIFFERENT YEARS TO GET A DEGREE IN JOURNALISM AND SCIENCE, HELL THAT'S REALLY SOMETHING. I'M SMARTER THAN THIS GIRL IS . PLEASE DON'T PUT MCCAIN WITH HIS NEW BRIDE IN THE WHITE HOUSE, HELL LOOK AT ALL THE ORGIES THAT WOULD TAKE PLACE.

What will please the Palin-drones? If she gets an easy interview like the joke of one on Fox shes brilliant, even though she wasn't, if anyone asks her a reasonable question which she never seems to have an answer to, they are picking on her.Boo hoo hoo.
She should KNOW what Mccain has done or not done, she may be taking his place, she can't just throw out jingoism or say "I'll get back to you" until handlers can give her facts she should KNOW to begin with. This woman might well be President one day ( Heaven help us)is she going to burst into tears if Putin has harsh words for her? If given a "right now" decision that affects the whole country is she going to "get back to" the threat? I wasn't fond of Hillary but you people were rude to her,the media was, too,she got not one minute of slack, so why does Palin get kid gloves? She needs to toughen up, and so do you, this is for all the beans.
BTW, my 15 year old daughter knows what the Bush Doctrine is, even though Sarah didn't.

I agree, Katie's obscure question is one that should be posed to McCain no Palin. I'm sure Palin has been studying every detail of McCain's legislative history since she was what......20 years old. Give me a break Katie.....is Palin expected to recall information on every event in history? Have you ever heard of Google Katie? You should try it. Turn the table and let Palin ask Katie a question that has been pulled from infinity and let's see how knowledgeable Couric is. And no, your sulken empathetic facial expression doesnt count as an answer Katie! Although I must say you've perfected it.

Does Sarah Palin and John McCain belong to the same party. Some of the questions she should have know for that fact aloned. If McCain is such a maverick, for the republican party, why is it that she knows so little about him. NJo one in their right minds could vote for this sad excuse for a ticket.
Obama/Biden 08 and 12

I wouldn't worry too much about Katie Couric. She is so left leanning, she was doing everything in her power to make Palin look bad. I cannot understand why so many of these so-called "news professionals" want crawl in bed with Obama.(a figure of speech) As far as the debate is concerned, why not Sarah Palin travel to Oxford to debate Barach Obama. That would be more of a match. Palin still has more credibility than Couric.

Well...then again...Biden lied and said his first wife was killed by a drunk driver....a lie...he was not drunk.....and then he said he had relatives who were coal miners to get the small town votes......the area says not true......then he got the pres. wrong in an interview with Katie Courac he said that when the markets crashed in 1929, "Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.' " (FDR wasn't president then, nor did television exist.)..............so DUH!!!! same stuff....don't pick on Palin!!!!

Well, the woman is his running partner. She should know of at least three things of great import that he has accomplished in 26 years. I can't really blame her because McCain really hasn't done much. His record is as thin as Obama's and I welcome anyone who can tell me anything different.

Sarah had said "John McCain will reform the way Wall Street does business" As she herself said that it was a reasonable question for Couric to ask, "Give Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation?"
How is that a trick question? Why is it picking on her to ask her to back up a statement WITH FACTS that she herself made? And no, it doesn't require Mccains entire voting record, or his Bio,or every damn way he supported regulation, as some Palin apologists have suggested, it just requires her having the facts, maybe just ONE to back up her statement. "He's a Maverick" is Not an answer, it's a silly campaign claim, and "I'll get back to you" is a bald admission she was clueless.
The problem is John was against regulation and now its biting him in the butt so there is no answer Palin could give.

Don11:37PMSep 24th 2008 If given a "right now" decision that affects the whole country is she going to "get back to" the threat? Don there has not been a President in history that responded off the cuff to "a clear and present danger" threatening this country without extensive exhausting briefings provided by experts in the area to which it pertains. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want any President making a crucial decision without any input from experts on the subject, his cabinet, top congressional leaders etc. Nice try at another Palin democratic "dig" Einsteen!
