Reading the younger set denigrate McCain on these boards just because he is older than Obama is very disheartening and a likely significant indicator of the intelligence level of many who do so on these boards. With age comes experience, which by most peoples reckoning, isn't such a bad thing. Some of the best leaders of all time were fairly old when called to action by their countrymen, take Winston Curchill for instance. Popular opinion prior to WW11 was that you could negotiate with herr Hitler and that peace in our time was at hand if only we would set down and reason with him. History shows that the old man Churchill had been right all along and when we finally realized it and followed his lead we won WW11. The whole notion many liberals have that this is all some big misunderstanding on our part and that the Taliban and Al Qaeda will come to their senses if only we'd use the daunting negotiating techniques of the much ballyhood Democrat Party, is almost foolhardy in its naivete. The economic principles being advocated by the left are just rehashed Carter era smoke and mirrors, and anyone who lived and worked in this country during his administration remember the double digit inflation, exceedingly poor state of our military, and the whole tenure of indecisiveness he and his delusional foreign policies inspired. Our enemies in Iran made a mockery of him and I am afraid that so much time has lapsed since those days that many americans, many not even born at that time, will set us on a path where history will once again repeat itself. It was hard enough to recover from the first episode of the New Democrat Party methods of governence, hopefully enough seasoned Americans will pull the blinders away that the media has fostered in this election season, to ultimately put a halt the sanctifed Obama candidacy, and keep it from all happening again.

Palin also cannot speak English correctly. See her comment about "for John McCain and I" instead of "John McCain and me" as it should be. She is uneducated in large part, unread according to her interview with Couric, completely untutored in science or scientific methods and has no experience in the larger world outside Alaska. Heaven help the country if melanoma recurs for John McCain. The thought of her as president makes me shudder! "Josephine six-pack" suits her admirably.

You may also remember, in all fairness, that Carter had to deal with the consequences of the October 73 Oil embargo by OPEC and the second Oil shock in 1979.

Also, if you want to talk about economic 'smoke and mirrors' the vast majority of Economists will tell you that 'Supply-Side Economics' is a major joke. Deregulation, another hallmark of Republican economic 'thinking', has had mixed results to say the least, as the recent crisis would seem to suggest.

As far as foreign policy is concerned, your summary of 'liberal' positions is nothing more than the typical, worn out 'straw man' Republicans enjoy so much reiterating day after day. Nobody on the left holds the views you attribute to them.

It's all the people at Saturday night's party.
He delivers my mail.
She goes to my church.
I talked to them on an airplane.
Their kids play with my kids.
I had coffee with them this morning.
She likes to do cross word puzzels.
He studied hard to be a great dentist.

He teaches at the high school.
She graduated from the state college.
They love their country, work really hard, are the most honest, love their families, believe in God. They are the backbone of this country. And, they would never have allowed this country to get in the financial mess we are in right now. It couldn't have happened because these people are not greedy, power hungry and dishonest.
So, would I like Joe Sixpack to be VP? You bet!!

They are the people I trust most to be fair, solve problems to everyone's advantage, and are every bit as smart as any Congressman, Senator, President or Vice-President. In some cases, they are smarter.

Yet, time and time again, he has gone out of his way to vote against the needs of those who are serving in our military. If he can’t even see his way to actually doing what the troops want, or what the veterans need, and he doesn’t have the support of veterans, then how can he be a credible commander in chief?

Oh, and gere, I would be able to relate to how you feel if the vitriol on here about Obama wasn't so racist and downright disgusting. Come to think of it, I haven't seen much written on these posts about McCains age per se, just the occasional senile comment, but I have seen plenty written about Obama that is way beyond the pale. And while you're at it with the griping about people picking on McCain for his age, why don't you say anything about McCain and Palins proven record of outrageous lies? If people making negetive comments about ones age bothers you, I would think that someone who claims to be the right person to literally run the country lying right through their teeth would be just as bothersome, if not more so.

Obama is the most liberal member of the United States Senate.
He received a 100 percent Liberal Rating from the National Journal, making him the most left-wing Senator in Washington — more liberal than even Democratic senators like Ted Kennedy.
He promises to change America forever. If elected, he will do just that — but in ways you make not like.
If you look at Obama’s record, you will understand just how dangerous this man is.
He even has terrorist friends he won’t denounce. One such man is William Ayers, a leader in the radical terrorist group the Weatherman Underground. The group bombed several government buildings, including the Pentagon, killing civilians and police officers.
In 2001, Ayers said he had no regrets for his actions and wished he could have done more.
The ties between Obama and Ayers are tight. Both served on two non profit boards and they worked closely together. Ayers even hosted a political event at his home for Obama.
Obama has acknowledged he is a friend of Ayers and defends his association by saying he, Obama, was only 8 years old at the time of the Pentagon bombing.
However, Obama has no explanation as to why he is still a friend of Ayers.
Obama has even been endorsed by radicals such as Nation of Islam Leader Louis Farrakhan.
No one can deny hearing about Obama’s relationship with the America-hating Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
There should be little doubt that William Ayers and Louis Farrakhan and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright are rooting for Obama — because he is one of them.
In keeping with such friends, Obama has promised to meet with radical leaders like Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad without “preconditions” even though Ahmadinejad has promised to “wipe Israel off the map” and “destroy” America.
Even radical Hamas terrorists have praised him.
“We like Mr. Obama and we hope he will win the election,” Ahmed Yousef, senior Hamas leader was quoted by ABC radio as saying.
And then there are Obama’s dangerous economic plans for America.
He wants to almost double the capital gains tax. He wants to strip the FICA tax cap off every worker making more than $97,500. He wants to increase the dividend tax. He wants to let the Bush tax cuts expire — giving almost every American family an automatic tax increase.

He has called for more than $800 billion in new spending programs.
He is so radical he even backed driver’s licenses for illegal aliens — even though such a move would help future terrorists move freely in the United States.

He is the most pro-abortion candidate in the history of the country. In 2001, as a state legislator in Illinois, he opposed a bill to protect live born children — children actually born alive! He was the only Illinois senator to speak out against the bill.

He opposes gun rights. He has long history of trying to deny ordinary citizens access to guns.
He originally backed Washington D.C.’s total ban on private handguns — a ban that was overturned. The NRA rated him an “F” on gun positions and says he is one of the most dangerous anti-gun politicians in the nation.
Never forget that Obama is a Harvard educated elitist. To him we Americans are simply “bitter” and he has mocked us saying “[they] cling to their guns and their religion.”
Hillary Clinton was late in recognizing the threat Obama posed to her campaign, but once she did, her strategy worked.
When Hillary exposed Obama publicly, her campaign saw a major turnaround.

Hillary won every major state primary in the nation with the sole exception of Obama’s home state of Illinois.

And even though Obama was “anointed” by the media and Democratic elites, Hillary went on to win eight of the last 10 Democratic primaries.
How did Obama beat Hillary for the nomination?
Well, using a loophole in Democratic rules, he was able to rack up large majorities in caucus states where he outspent and out organized her.
But in large, contested states she won almost every time. Why? Because when Democrats heard what Obama really stood for, they turned on him.

Worth repeating on more time for Mr. Gere

Even Mccain won't admit he's not only a Reublicsn but he's the same Senator McCain who for the past 8 years is responsible for the horrible messes America is in including right now as are all the Republicans in this administration. And with Mc cain. there are still folks dumb enough to want 4 more Bush years.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that a conservative Christian is a member of the six pack club. They are usually against drinking and etc. on family value issues aren't they?

I don't want a below average person who's just like everyone else having his or her hand on the nuclear button. Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Abe Lincoln were uncommon men, not joe sixpacks. I wouldn't want joe sixpack as my freakin' boss, let alone everybody's boss. That's just nuts.

Now Palin dismisses media 'elites' and claims 'journalistic ethics' have changed she received her journalism degree. How hilarious - if she thinks the likes of Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson are elites, why did she agree to be interviewed by both in depth? This is just more nonsense from the McCain camp - cover up for your VP candidate's dismal peformance and lack of political knowledge by attacking the messenger. But, they know trashing the media will rally the base of the GOP, and that is why they are doing it - problem is, it will win them no new voters. The base was already voting for McCain/Palin anyway.
