The election has turned to gang warfare according to professional inciter Keith Olbermann and some person called Frank Schaefer. Apparently, you see, if you point out that Obama has bad judgment in friends you are soliciting his assassination ... and if you think that's the most outrageous thing Olbermann has ever said then think again. So, yeah, consider the source if, you know, you want to be accused of thinking. If not, by all means tune in.
Aside from considering the source, though, let's consider the facts as well. By now you've certainly heard the eternally injured left scream about Obama's death threat at a Palin rally. Woe is me Democrats can be counted on for two things under all circumstances, to bleat about their own persecution, and to be ten times more vicious in their assaults on Republicans than even their own false claims about the right. In this case, it is no different. Unlike actual violence against McCain voters, this story is simply not so. As is obvious from the transcript, the person in Palin's audience was talking about Ayers. You may think that is still out of line but, first of all it wasn't about Obama so that's a lie. Second of all, Ayers is an attempted murderer so at least there's some 'in kind' sentiment there. Oh, and that domestic terrorist? Yeah, despite the spin you choke on each day from Obama supporters who excuse his every flaw with "nothing to see here," he's a good friend, ally, and supporter of Obama. The reason the left are so irrational on the subject is they just can't cope with that fact. They know it's bad news for him so they send out lying tools like Olbermann to throw hissy fits about it for Youtube fodder. (By they way, where would Olbermann be without YouTube? In prison for assault after launching into one of his road rage spittle fests because the stripper wasn't impressed enough by his sportscasting and the cop was "a complete fascist, sir, a fascist and coward, sir." No doubt.)
Keep in mind this clownish outrage, sir, is coming from someone who has called Bush everything you can think of, including accusing Bush of actually being a terrorist. By your standards of reasoning, we should all be asking you to stop suborning treason, please, Keith. Can you, at long last, stop inciting violence against our President, sir?
That Patterico link above has some additional information you should look at, by the way, including Obama supporters calling for Palin to be stoned. They make an excellent point, which is that it is too rich to see the outrage on this even if it were so, as the left gives more than they get in this regard routinely. Don't let's forget about the fact that one of the left's popular "comedians" had a website raising money to make Palin's daughter have an abortion. Classy. You don't want to play the "who has the worst supporters" game. The rabid left is rich fodder.
The fact that Senator Obama has such colossally bad taste in associates is ultimately his own fault, not John McCain's. The left's defense of his associations reminds of a child caught in an untenable position who resorts to the compelling argument "shut up." When saying shut up isn't enough, they do what the left does best, they try to silence through intimidation. Talk about Reverend Wright and you're a racist. Talk about Bill Ayers and you're an aspiring assassin. This is a little taste of what speech will be like for the opposition under an Obama Presidency. His ascension complete and his lackeys installed in the Congress, he will have his press minions and his legions of worshipers to crush dissent.
I'd call for Olbermann to resign in kind, but he's on MSNBC so really, only leftwing bloggers would ever know. For the rest of the left who are so inexplicably interested in domestic buffoonerist Olbermann I can only suggest you break from the Obama tradition and think twice about who you associate with. Olbermann is a hypocrite in general, and in particular on the issue of hateful rhetoric. Your side is full of hateful talk as well as actual action, so the manufactured outrage and absurd characterization of Mccain, well, just a teensy bit ho hum, not to mention gutter politics at its finest. So, as Keith Olbermann might say, sir ... pllllllease.
