I'm not quite sure I understand why John McCain is clinging to the delusion that he'll somehow win Pennsylvania. He's doing three events there today, less than two weeks from the election.
He'd be wise to forget about PA, and concentrate on Ohio, Florida, Colorado, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nevada, Missouri, West Virginia and Indiana. But, then again, there's word from CNN's John King, who reports that McCain's advisers see Pennsylvania as essential to a November victory. Good luck with that, guys.
Why are you surprised by anything that McCain does. This is very typical of his decision making of late. Missouri is going to Obama. I live in Missouri and with the two rallys this past weekend, Obama packed in nearly 200,000 people compared to McCains 1,000. St Louis and Kansas City are the largest cities in Missouri and this is Obama country here.

Senator Obama newspaper endorsements so far is 117 compared to 33 for McCain.
As of 10/19, among the top 100 papers, Obama has been endorsed by papers with a circulation of 11.0 Million, McCain by papers with a circulation of 2.1 Million.
People support candidates for different reasons. Some of those reasons are single issue and some of those reasons are multiple issue. Single issue voters will vote for a candidate because of race, gender, personality, etc, even it is against their personal interest and their pocketbook. Multiple issue voters will look at the candidate’s entire platform and will vote for a candidate based on the candidate’s platform even if they personally dislike the candidate. This is and always will be the American way.
The goal is to get the current president and those that think like him, like John McCain, out of the white house. If Senator Clinton had won the democratic primary it would be the responsibility of the American voter, that is fed up with the way things are going , to put her in the white house. Since she didn’t win the primary and Senator Obama did then he should be elected president.

McCain wasting his time in PA ain't no surprise to me. The befuddled old fool waited almost 6 months to pick the Alaska Airhead, more proof that he and his campaign organization are lightweights!

The ACORN Effect: A massive fraud ... Sunday, October 12, 2008
PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE REVIEW EDITORIAL
ACORN -- Barack Obama's favorite left-wing community organizing group -- is finally getting the scrutiny from law enforcement it deserves.
A Nevada voter-fraud task force raided the state headquarters of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now on Tuesday and seized computers and equipment.
No charges were filed against ACORN, but the group's serial voting irregularities don't augur for its innocence.
ACORN, with "franchises" in 110 cities, has been accused of submitting inaccurate or fraudulent voter registrations in at least nine states, including Ohio and Pennsylvania. Perjury and fraud charges are being weighed in Allegheny County.
In 2006, ACORN signed a consent decree with Washington state agreeing to refrain from improper voter registration activities or face criminal prosecution.
It's no secret who benefits most from the 1.3 million new voters ACORN has recently registered in 21 states, including Pennsylvania. Expanding voter turnout is key to Democrats electing Mr. Obama, who in the 1990s showered ACORN's Chicago office with public-private funding he controlled and provided with personal-leadership training.
But ACORN repeatedly has shown it can't be trusted. Are its new voters real or are they frauds? Are they ghosts using names of dead people or former Dallas Cowboys players? Are they duplicates of real voters?
Nevada's office of Secretary of State -- headed by a Democrat -- deserves kudos for digging into ACORN's operations. Given the scope of the allegations, it's now time for federal authorities to follow the states' lead.

Good Morning,
Take so Time off from the campaign trail, for those of us following this election through to Nov. 4
Now don't eat too many! I found tons of cool stuff here.
Momentum building for new economy-boosting package.
By JEANNINE AVERSA, AP Economics Writer Jeannine Aversa, Ap Economics Writer –
WASHINGTON – Momentum is building for a fresh dose of economic stimulants to boost the country out of the doldrums — perhaps by putting more money in Americans' pockets. The White House said Monday that President Bush was open to some sort of action after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke warned the slump could drag on without the extra bracing tonic.
On Wall Street, stocks bolted higher, with the Dow Jones industrials rising 413 points. There also were some new signs that credit conditions were thawing a bit.
The national economy, already wobbling, has been rocked by a trio of hard punches from the housing, credit and financial crises. With a recession widely seen as inevitable, if not already under way, the focus in Washington has shifted to the questions of how bad, how long and how to limit the pain.
There is increasing talk of a post-election special session calling Congress back to the Capitol. But urgency varies greatly according to whom you talk to — and when.
"We're continuing to have conversations with members of Congress, and we're open to ideas that they would put forward ... that would stimulate the economy and help us pull out of this downturn faster," White House press secretary Dana Perino said around noon Monday, shortly after Bernanke endorsed the need for a fresh and "significant" round of government action.
A couple of hours later, Bush seconded Perino's remarks, but he also said in a more optimistic tone: "I have heard that people's attitudes are beginning to change from a period of intense concerns — I would call it near panic — to being more relaxed." He commented after a closed meeting with business leaders in Alexandria, La.
If congressional leaders and Bush — who has been cool to more federal stimulus spending given already exploding budget deficits — were to hash out an acceptable package, it would require a special session after the Nov. 4 elections.
If an agreement can't be worked out, the effort probably would be taken up by the next Congress and the next president. Democrat Barack Obama has strongly advocated more government stimulus, while Republican John McCain is keeping his options open.
Yeah, I guess all those people that are still bitter clinging to their guns and religion in all those "redneck " states have all forgotten what Obama said about them behind closed doors in San Francisco during the primaries, huh ???? Go ahead and believe that fairy tale........ McCain/Palin

McCain has had a brain stroke and we only found out about it when he nominate Palin as his running mate. Then we all found out that he really is crazy. How did he plan to win an election in this country during 2008 when you picked a running mate from 1900. She believes in no abortions even in cases of rape or incest. How dare her to try and force a young child who may have been incested by a close family member to carry that child. Palin will be back in the upper country soon enough and I for one will be glad.

Personally, I think there is enough time for McCain to make this election close. However, in order for him to when he needs PA, or VA plus one of the following: NV, NN, or CO. This of course assumed he'll run the table on all of the other 8 toss ups.
Like I said, he can make it close... But he needs something beyond his control to tip it for him.

Also, he has told more lies and been directly and indirectly involved in more criminal activities: see Keating 5, Scooter Libby, and Dinglaub.

In my email box this AM was a message from Andy Martin, saying, in part:
"Monday (today) we petitioned the Hawai'i Supreme Court to order Obama's secret birth records released." (SUPREME COURT OF HAWAI’I DOCKET NUMBER: 29414)
"How did Obama respond? He suddenly discovered that his grandmother, who had supposedly been released from her hospital a week ago, when he showed no interest in her, needed his immediate attention. Cool, calm, collected Obama suddenly suspended his campaign and headed for Hawai'i."
"High Noon."
Fox News reported:
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is canceling nearly all his campaign events Thursday and Friday to visit his suddenly gravely ill 85-year-old grandmother in Hawaii, a spokesman said.
Robert Gibbs told reporters aboard Obama's plane that Madelyn Payne Dunham, who helped raise Obama, was released from the hospital late last week. But he said her health had deteriorated "to the point where her situation is very serious."
Awwww....David he would be wise to forget about all of those states and concentrate on just trying to find Mr. Puddles.

THIS IS YOUR NATION ON WHITE PRIVILEGE By Tim Wise
For those who still can't grasp the concept of white privilege, or who are constantly looking for some easy-to-understand examples of it, perhaps this list will help.
White privilege is when you can get pregnant at seventeen like Bristol Palin and everyone is quick to insist that your life and that of your family is a personal matter, and that no one has a right to judge you or your parents, because "every family has challenges," even as black and Latino families with similar "challenges" are regularly typified as irresponsible, pathological and arbiters of social decay.
White privilege is when you can call yourself a "fuckin' redneck," like Bristol Palin's boyfriend does, and talk about how if anyone messes with you, you'll "kick their fuckin' ass," and talk about how you like to "shoot shit" for fun, and still be viewed as a responsible, all-American boy (and a great son-in-law to be) rather than a thug.
White privilege is when you can attend four different colleges in six years like Sarah Palin did (one of which you basically failed out of, then returned to after making up some coursework at a community college), and no one questions your intelligence or commitment to achievement, whereas a person of color who did this would be viewed as unfit for college, and probably someone who only got in in the first place because of affirmative action.
White privilege is when you can claim that being mayor of a town smaller than most medium-sized colleges, and then Governor of a state with about the same number of people as the lower fifth of the island of Manhattan, makes you ready to potentially be president, and people don't all piss on themselves with laughter, while being a black U.S. Senator, two-term state Senator, and constitutional law scholar, means you're "untested."?
White privilege is being able to say that you support the words "under God" in the pledge of allegiance because "if it was good enough for the founding fathers, it's good enough for me," and not be immediately disqualified from holding office--since, after all, the pledge was written in the late 1800s and the "under God" part wasn't added until the 1950s--while believing that reading accused criminals and terrorists their rights (because, ya know, the Constitution, which you used to teach at a prestigious law school requires it), is a dangerous and silly idea only supported by mushy liberals.?
White privilege is being able to be a gun enthusiast and not make people immediately scared of you.?
White privilege is being able to have a husband who was a member of an extremist political party that wants your state to secede from the Union, and whose motto was "Alaska first," and no one questions your patriotism or that of your family, while if you're black and your spouse merely fails to come to a 9/11 memorial so she can be home with her kids on the first day of school, people immediately think she's being disrespectful.?
White privilege is being able to make fun of community organizers and the work they do--like, among other things, fight for the right of women to vote, or for civil rights, or the 8-hour workday, or an end to child labor--and people think you're being pithy and tough, but if you merely question the experience of a small town mayor and 18-month governor with no foreign policy expertise beyond a class she took in college--you're somehow being mean, or even sexist.?
White privilege is being able to convince white women who don't even agree with you on any substantive issue to vote for you and your running mate anyway, because all of a sudden your presence on the ticket has inspired confidence in these same white women, and made them give your party a "second look."?
White privilege is being able to fire people who didn't support your political campaigns and not be accused of abusing your power or being a typical politician who engages in favoritism, while being black and merely knowing some folks from the old-line political machines in Chicago means you must be corrupt.?
White privilege is being able to attend churches over the years whose pastors say that people who voted for John Kerry or merely criticize George W. Bush are going to hell, and that the U.S. is an explicitly Christian nation and the job of Christians is to bring Christian theological principles into government, and who bring in speakers who say the conflict in the Middle East is God's punishment on Jews for rejecting Jesus, and everyone can still think you're just a good church-going Christian, but if you're black and friends with a black pastor who has noted (as have Colin Powell and the U.S. Department of Defense) that terrorist attacks are often the result of U.S. foreign policy and who talks about the history of racism and its effect on black people, you're an extremist who probably hates America.?
White privilege is not knowing what the Bush Doctrine is when asked by a reporter, and then people get angry at the reporter for asking you such a "trick question," while being black and merely refusing to give one-word answers to the queries of Bill O'Reilly means you're dodging the question, or trying to seem overly intellectual and nuanced.?
White privilege is being able to claim your experience as a POW has anything at all to do with your fitness for president, while being black and experiencing racism is, as Sarah Palin has referred to it a "light" burden.?
And finally, white privilege is the only thing that could possibly allow someone to become president when he has voted with George W. Bush 90 percent of the time, even as unemployment is skyrocketing, people are losing their homes, inflation is rising, and the U.S. is increasingly isolated from world opinion, just because white voters aren't sure about that whole "change" thing. Ya know, it's just too vague and ill-defined, unlike, say, four more years of the same, which is very concrete and certain…?
