The story of Sarah Palin's $150,000.00 September shopping spree, on Joes the Plumbers' dime, keeps getting better. The Atlantic points out that the Alaska Gov had her own, personal RNC shopper.

Along with the matching dates and dollar totals, note the "Transaction ID Number," which clearly connects the questionable expenditures with reimbursement payments made to Larson. (To totally wonk out for a second, the "m" stands for "memo," which is included to provide an additional explanation of the transaction-basically, it links a disbursement with whatever was purchased.)

Does the name Jeff Larson sound familiar? It should. Larson is the Karl Rove protégé who's a principal in the robocalling firm of FLS Connect (the "FLS" stands for Tony Feather, Jeff Larson, and Tom Syndhorst, all veteran Republican political operatives). Larson's firm is the same one that launched the scurrilous robocalls against John McCain in 2000, and that McCain has now hired to make robocalls connecting Barack Obama to Bill Ayers.

I also noticed that the Politico story from yesterday said that $295.00 of the $150,000 had been spent on items for the baby at Pacifier and Steiniauf & Stroller. That's wrong. $98.50 of that was spent at Steinlauf & Stoller, a "sewing notions and supplies" retailer in New York City. So, $196.00 was spent on the baby, (here's what she bought) and I guess we'll need to peruse the report for charges for alterations. You can click the picture to see the full document. So, if Palin has a personal shopper, why did she have to stop "suddenly" at Wal Mart, with security detail and reporters in tow, to pick up a pack of generic diapers? That seems more like a condescending photo-op now, doesn't it?

Or maybe, when Palin says "Joe Six-pack," she's referring to a six-pack of Fabergé eggs, or bottles of truffle oil.

Our New Approach to Comments

In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
