John Kerry on McCain's Underwear: 'Depends'

Dear Senator Kerry:

Some people can do a joke, but you, Senator McCain and I do not pass muster here.
It's okay to make light banter but jokes have a mean edge and the teller in politics almost always has to apologize for making their pathetic attempt.

He's stopped doing it but it wasn't so long ago that McCain was bragging about his being 5th from the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy. This wasn't humor, it was Mccains carbon copy of Bush who bragged about being a C- student

Kerry should stay out of camera range--permanently. Let it go John, you lost to W cause he was a beguiling dufus and so many other dufuses (I'm not even sure that's a word) out there thought he would be more fun to have a beer with than you--and they were probably right!! The Daily Show did it justice though. Love you Jon Stewart!

Oh, for heaven's sake, let's have some sense of humor, people. John Kerry and McCain are about the same age and I thought it was funny, most of the people who wear depends are women who have had a lot of children. Jeez, when did we get to be so quick to take offense? If you don't learn to bend, you will break. I have one for you: I am not voting for Obama because the last thing this country needs is another black guy asking for change. Now, that's funny, too!

the recent remark about senator mccains underwear made me stop and think. you senator kerry at your age will probably wear depends too! every time i see the house and senate meetings i start to wonder how many actually wear depends. shame on the dems. there are a lot of people that have to wear depends the elderly, our mothers and fathers in nursing homes our wounded soldiers,accident victims,and many others. shame, shame.

To Maccain Supporters

It is very disrespectful for Sen. Kerry to make jokes about Sen. Maccain wearing depends, and he should apologize. Having said that,I also think that Sen. Maccain and Gov. Palin should apologize to Sen. Obama for saying that he is anti-american.

I support Sen. Obama and will vote for him on Nov.4.I am a 58 year old black woman. I'm voting for Barack Obama because I think he is the better candidate for america at this time in our history, not because he is black as some white people believe. Blacks could argue the same point why many whites won't vote for him. I look at the way each candidate has ran their campaigns, John Maccain has been all over the place, experience, the surge, Obama is a socialist, communist,maxist, pals around with terrorist, anti-american, Obama hasn't been tested, but what has John Maccain been tested in? Sitting in a aircraft carrier during the Cuban Missule Crisis doesn't mean he's been tested, nor does being a former POW 46 years ago.I honor his service to our country, but that doesn't may him qualified to be president. And most of all I question John Maccain's judgement. Not only in picking Sarah Palin as his VP, but also the people he choose to run his campaign.I know you will argue that Sarah Palin has excutive experience as a mayor, and governor, but I think that picking her was a politcal decision. Maccain and his advisors thought that by picking a woman, he would win over the 18 million Hilary supporters.But, the truth is that,with no disrespect to Sarah Palin she is NO HILARY CLINTON.As for his advisors, they are all lobbist or former lobbist,his economic advisor is none other than Phil Gramm, the guru of de-regulation and lobbist for wall street, banks, and the housing industries. Maccain has allowed his managers to tell outright lies, with each ad with his stamp of approval and insight division, fear, and hate-mongering, tactics, and gimmicks that haven't worked, and now Joe the plumber, who's really not even a plumber.
By contrast, Sen. Obama has ran a history making campaign with a consistant theme. He has taken everything that has been thrown at him for the last 2 years with dignity and grace and calm. He has convinced me that he has the wisdom and judgement to be president,not because he is black but, in spite of the fact that he is black, and I believe that on Nov.4th most americans, black, white, latino, and asian, will agree with me and for the first time in the history of this country they will cast their vote for BARACK HUSSIEN OBAMA.

I recall a stand-up comedian, I don't remember who, making this very same joke about Bob Dole in the 1996 Clinton/Dole presidential race. But if the diaper fits,....

K=McCain should understand that he's often the subject of a joke because he is one. But you all remember Mccains brilliant sense of humor when he said " Send free cigarettes to the Iranians so they can kill themselves". That was real presidential humor wasn't it.

Ben Franklin said, "The heart of a fool is in his mouth." McCain and Palin has proven this point quite well by the things they have said about Senator Obama.
Because of the things they have said a lot of the McCainites think Senator Obama is a terrorist, unamerican, a communist, a socialist, and they have even called for his death. McCain and Palin have brought out the racism in people. Kerry remarks are tame compared to some of the things that the McCainites have publicly said. There is one thing about election politics in America.

Election politics is a rough and tough business. Relationships are short and fast. Friends become enemies and enemies become friends. Nothing is off limits. Everything is on the table for criticism and no subject is taboo. Lies will become fact and fact will become lies. Like Harry Truman said, "If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen."

What is sexual about Depends? Beats me!!
