According to Politico's Playbook, a top McCain aide
now calls VP nominee Sarah Palin a "whack job."

This follows several days of anonymous piling on by McCain staffers and GOP insiders. Yesterday, CNN
reported some harsh talk by a McCain adviser:
"She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," this McCain adviser said. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.
"Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom."
The way McCain's staff is trashing Palin almost makes me like her. It's hard to believe that she's making them this mad and not doing
something right.
There is also an unmistakable sexist slant to these comments that I'm waiting for someone to call them out on.
New Agenda, where are you?
OF course, it could be that campaign insiders are setting up a narrative that shields them from blame if McCain should lose. The upside for Palin is that she gets to sever herself from a losing campaign apparatus, a help to her political future.
None of this is helpful to the thing most in need of help: John McCain's electoral prospects.
