"Joe the Plumber" strikes again!

Ever since John McCain elevated the fantastical hypotheticist to national prominence in the last debate, he and McCain have become increasingly intertwined. First, McCain turned Joe into a campaign slogan and archetype for whiny, non-existent quarter-millionaire working stiffs. Then, he put Joe out on the stump, where Joe usually showed up.

Now, McCain says that the pipe-and-drain enthusiast is the wind beneath his wings. That makes Joe more than just a surrogate for McCain. In fact, it almost sounds like McCain is Joe's surrogate.

So, has McCain disagreed, yet, with Joe's contention that a vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel? A contention, I might add, that even Fox News anchor Shep Smith characterized as "dangerous?" He has not, nor has his campaign.

Jake Tapper reports that Joe is at it again, with another out-of-line attack on Barack Obama. This time, he questions Obama's loyalty to America.
"There's too many questions with Barack Obama and his loyalty to our country. And I question that greatly."

Fox News' Neil Cavuto tried to clarify: "You're not doubting that he's a good American. Or you are?"

"His ideology is completely different from what democracy stands for," said Wurzelbacher.
Since McCain didn't denounce last week's attack, it begs the question of whether Joe the Pipesmith is acting, not just with the campaign's assent, but at their direction. Is Joe the new pit bull, sans lipstick? The McCain campaign, again, has not responded to the question. Make of that what you will.
