    Predictions from Dave

    Here goes:

The Giuliani/Romney team wins in a tight squeaker to become the next president over Clinton/Richardson.

Oh wait, that was the prediction from a year ago. When it made much more sense. Seriously y'all would never have expected all this coming a million years ago?

A senator with no experience who's middle name is Hussein? Joe Biden? Sarah who? McCain?

If you'd have told me all that a year ago I would have laughed out loud at you and so here we are.

So what's going to happen tomorrow night? Possibly what everyone expects, an Obama victory.

Or, just like normal for this election year, the completely unexpected happens. If that were to happen what would it look like.

    The preliminaries:

Congress: Democrats gain 18 seats, but lose Murtha, Mahoney, that guy in TX-22 and a couple of others. OH Republicans are surprisingly resilient (again)

Senate: Democrats knock off the expected out west but are unable to get Franken over the hurdle in MN, or MS, KY, NC, GA and end up with 57 seats including a D from Alaska. (If I'm counting right)

    The Presidency:

The night starts out quietly enough with a narrow lead for McCain in IN, but then gets interesting as McCain wins a squeaker in NC and GA, and builds a small lead in FL and keeps it narrow in VA.

The first shock of the night is when PA, followed by OH fall to McCain. Racist Coal Miners and Southern OH rednecks are blamed. Joe the Plumber gets more death threats and has to go into the witness protection program.

Later on, out west as expected CO,NM,NV, and IA all fall to Obama. But by that time all eyes are still watching an extremely narrow race in VA that is within a point or two of each candidate. The lead switches back and forth several times as returns come in heavily for Obama in Northern Virginia, but McCain locks up 4-1 advantages from everything West of Richmond.

By 3am Obama has a small lead of 2,390 votes.

The result: To be determined on November 14th, when the last of the military ballots come in.

What? You thought this would end on Wednesday?
