After listening all day to the attacks coming from unnamed people inside John McCain's presidential campaign about her, Sarah Palin shot back today.
In an e-mail statement to CNN's Wolf Blitzer, a top aide to Palin said:
"This is so unfortunately and, quite honestly, sickening. The accusations we are hearing and reading are not true and since we deny all these anonymous allegations, there is nothing specific to which we will respond."
"We have the highest regards for Senator John McCain. Governor Palin was honored to be chosen as McCain's running mate and as governor of Alaska, Governor Palin looks forward to working with President-Elect Obama on securing energy independence for America."
Palin herself told CNN last night: "They're unnamed sources and that says it all," calling the people behind the leaks "small, bitter people."
Palin said her relationship with McCain himself was "great." "I have nothing but admiration for him, I love him," she said. "it's not just political. It's sincere admiration I have for him."
As for the media, Palin, who majored in journalism in college, had some more choice words: "I've come away, unfortunately, with a little bit of disappointment in the world of the media and, don't anybody take it personally [shoots nasty look to a reporter making comments] ... you guys have thick skin too, please, build your skin thick."
"So many of the things reported could easily have been corrected" about her record.
In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around.
