Valerie Jarrett, Co-chair of Barack Obama's Transition Team, appeared on Meet the Press today. She made a fairly minor slip-up, magnified by the "Messiah" narrative advanced by Barack Obama's opponents during the Presidential election.
Being a charitable person, I would respond to Jarrett by saying that Obama already rules, in much the same way that Jimi Hendrix rules, or the Jets rule (at least today). As Merriam-Webster's puts it, "slang: to be extremely cool or popular -used as a generalized term of praise or approval {for a little attitude at the right price, sneakers rule - Tish Hamilton}."
Right, like sneakers. That's a great example. Nice dictionary.

You guys are so hyper-sensitive to possible criticism of your man that you jump into ass-covering mode when it's not even remotely warranted.
Relax already.

Millions of you voted for Obama which means look for his rule like Bush ruled. Congress our sorry lawmakers have a lot to say about how our country is run. We thought there were a lot of safe checks and balances for congress to follow and the presidential admistration to follow and keep them honest and working for U. S. citizens that pay their salaries. Even congress needs oversight by honest, reputable overseers and regulators now. So the checks and balances we had were stepped on, abused and over looked by our entire congress. Then those congressmen get standing ovations when the speak. WHATTA WORLD

Seems to me we are stuck with Obama for four years. You people voted for the man even though his friends and his pastor and his name change and so on were reported. You ask for Obama and now you have Obama.

John McCain and his camp were miserable failures. He could not speak his way out of a paper bag. He aligned himself with President George Bush's ideas and more war. Governmor Sarah Palin was the only good thing about his campaign. The man is not intelligent now about the economy or answering a straight question on his policys except he is a war hero and we do appreciate our war heros. So Congress give our war heros more and better healthy benefits and security and expanded educational opportunities.

I felt a kind of peace the morning after the election ; peace I hadn't felt for a long time, without even being aware that it was missing.
President Elect Barack Obama did not win this election because of his race. Barack Obama won this election because his strength of character is more evident than his color. This strength of his character is what kept him on a consistent course of basic American values and ideals. He won because he is committed to what is possible with our country, and how to problem solve, and make decisions. He won because, when we watched him, we felt better about ourselves and each other, seeing our greatness in his eyes as he looked at us all of us, even those who did (do)not agree with him. This man loves this country, and I am inspired by his vision to be a better citizen.
Anyone who is against him, or is saying negative things about him I would find it unbelievable that if you were to meet him that you wouldnt change your mind about him, maybe you would not agree with his policies, but I think as a human being you would see why we voted for him I look forward to his presidency, along with any mistakes that will be made. It will go beyond the democrat/republican philosophies that we have clung to for so long. I know that scares people, change is very hard, especially for those who were raised with opposing ideologies. But I know Our President Obama will handle whatever happens. He has asked us to come together as a country and help him, help eachother. From what I have read, he is not one who is above asking for advice and help
I think if Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King were alive today they wold be so impressed and proud!!

On the fourth day following the Selection, Barack, the Chosen One, addressed the Nation from a mountaintop, to offer hope and confidence. But, he made no public appearances. He took time to provide His own counsel. He looked back in wonderment at the circuitous route that brought Him to this moment. He remembered lessons learned and tactics employed to reach this exalted position. Celebrity, political savvy and access to wealth have always been key to a successful rise to power, and it remains so. He remembered that first meeting, so many years ago, with Chief Counselor and confidant, David of the family Axelrod. The road has been long, the battles intense, but with the aid of those who favor Him, He remains unscarred.
Exodus Chapter 1, Verse 8, Lines 1 - 8
On the fifth day following the Selection, the Christian Sabbath, the Chosen One, along with His wife and His children and hoards of worshipers, traveled to His Temple. He enlisted members of the tribe of Media to record the event. Conspicuously, Jeremiah of Right, mentor to the Chosen One, was not present. Barack prayed for Calm and Stability, and for a successful journey for His Unifier. As a gesture of goodwill, He accepted an invitation to break bread with George XLIII, departing leader of the Nation. The Chosen One was preparing for elevation to His rightful Greatness. Many problems burdened the Nation in these troubled days. But, it was His time, and He was ready to set them right.

Tommy Christopher is right. Obama rules. He was rated the most liberal Senator in Congress. With the current Senate we have, that's quite an accomplishment.

TO ELIZABETH-
I disagree, It was because of his race that he was elected. Records were set for minority registration and voting.
A white man with Obama's lack of experience, radical friendships, and numerous contradictions, wouldn't stand a chance.

Elizabeth,
You felt good when you watched Obama, but did you do any research on him? Did you check any public records to find out what his true character is or just judge his character to be good by his eyes and his promises? I'm glad you feel peace. I wish I felt the same, but I've checked into Obama's rise through Chicago politics by checking public records, newspaper archives, and books, and I don't feel peace. I feel panic that the America I love just made one of the biggest mistakes in her history. And I don't agree that the greatest leaders in our history would be proud. I think they are turning in their graves wondering how we could do this to the country they loved.

Not due to race? Get a grip! A Democrat friend of mine tried to sell me that nonsense until I reminded him Blacks voted for Obama in the Primary, 88-12 over Hillary. Remember? They were both Democrats!
Look, it’s a historic moment for Blacks, no doubt about it! But please don’t make this election more complicated. Blacks did vote race. It’s understandable, and it’s true.
The problem is, and I think it will be evident as time goes on, Obama received votes based on something other than qualification for the job. It’s like saying O.J. Simpson was acquitted in the first trial because he was innocent. No reasonable person believes that one, either.

civilian national security force? neighbors spying and reporting on neighbors in socialist, military dictatorship, unfree countries around the world. one last same good old thanksgiving, christmas, newyear before the change/revolution - america will never be the same ever again - changed valentine, nonsame easter, july 5th ... *another word for change is revolution. gunless unarmed citizen means it's resistanceless takeover for military dictatorship from within or out. *no need to wait years for "results" like bush - impeach with first broken promise or mistake. 8yrs of bad bush is already too much no more bad yrs. with obama or anyone - from presidents to mayors. * my xmas wish – the mccains, bushes, palins (only them) get on saturday night live & make me laugh for the last time. after that boycotting media for 4yrs. liberals, democrats, media, hollywood, blacks are no human beings. any year a mccain run he should win. hilary, obama, blacks, hope, change/revolution, economy/money, anyone anything should wait - you gave bush 8 yrs. you can't give a mccain 4? and it would've been the greatest 4 yrs ever too - no one can love america better than "my friends, my fellow americans" or surplus usa like alaska palin. JUST MONEY, JUST 4 YEARS, IN EXCHANGE FOR A SOUL.. it's not "god damn america" - it's allah damn america. cheers.

REPUBLICANS: For now, we have a new president-elect. In the spirit of reaching across the aisle, we owe it to the Democrats to show their president the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican president. (Ann Coulter)

You are so obnoxious, JV Zaccaro. Why do you write the same things over and over again? I probably won't be coming back after the "lovely" experience I had here today, but I just wanted to let you know that other people have the right to their opinions, buddy. You are rude and belittling to people, and those Bible verses are not funny! I find them highly offensive, for religious reasons, but also because you choose to post them over and over again.

What I felt on the morning after the election was absolute terror, and a conviction that Obama does indeed plan to "rule" in the connotative meaning of the word was part of that terror. My fear is that Obama will rule as Hitler ruled. The situation is very similar. Hitler was a Social Democrat. Obama has been described as a Social Democrat. Hitler was able to assume autocratic rule because of the deplorable economic situation of Germany at the time. I believe that Obama will at least attempt to "rule" in this way, and I thank God for the Republican contingent in Congress that may serve as a check on his unbridled convictions of his monarchical supremacy. I am not alone in my fears. All over this country people are lining up to buy guns, not just because they fear Obama will outlaw guns, but because they fear the civil unrest that could result from Obama's "rule" may make self protection a necessity. God help this country for the next four years. If it survives this unqualified, anti-American "ruler," we will know the age of miracles is not past.

Under the first amendment of the constitution you have the freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly and petition. For the McCainites they may add the freedom to be miserable. The following is what really counts-Popular Votes for Obama-53%-65,445,394 ----McCain-46%--57,446,223----Electoral Votes for Obama-364----McCain-162. Some of the 46% will be in misery and whining as long as President Obama is in the White House. They have the freedom to be miserable for as long as they want to. God bless America.
