MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell reports via Countdown that, according to two of Barack Obama's advisers, Hillary Clinton i

s on a very short list for Secretary of State.
The Washington Post
reported earlier today more generalized chatter about the pick, but Mitchell's sources, plus the news that Hillary Clinton's office is referring all questions to the Transition press office, makes this a red-hot story.
There is questionable logic in leaking this information, unless Obama has already decided to offer it to her. After the contentious primary, and the molasses-slow healing of the resultant rift between Hillary die-hards and the rest of the Democratic Party, a false start here could be a PR disaster for the President-elect.
Reading between the lines here, and knowing the incredible message discipline of the Obama staff, I would be shocked if the offer, at least, was not a fait accompli.
I'll update this story as it develops.
