Huffingtonpost is reporting that former Senate majority leader and South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle has been offered the position of Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Tom Daschle was one of the first big names to jump on the Obama bandwagon way back at the beginning of 2007, so it's no surprise that he is being rewarded with a senior spot on the team. In fact, the Health and Human Services position has been a point of speculation since June. Heck, he practically wrote the book on the subject.
In his book, Daschle talks about what went wrong with the push he and others made in the 90s for universal health care, and as Secretary, would probably make a renewed attempt at pushing forward a nationalized health care system.
Daschle certainly has experience and clout, but is his approach to health care right for this country?
Here's a video from 2006 of Daschle not answering the question "How are you working with the Center for American Progress on security and health care?"
