Poll: Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State?

Hillary Clinton will do well in anything she does. Obama certainly needs her intelligent mind & experience as it's an area in which he is lacking. He needs to surround himself with those who "know the ropes" much to the chagrine of those who voted for "change." He never explained what he meant by "change." Those who voted for him took him at his word (something I never did as I felt early on he couldn't be trusted).
I do believe there will be change since the only way to go is up. Every politician should know things can not continue as they have. I hope they realize the importance of working together & getting something accomplished for the good of the country. I know that is Hillary's aim & always has been. Dispense with the sexist criticism & let her do her job......whatever that may be. The Clintons continue to be admired by a multitude of people here & abroad. Either or both of them have the capability of helping to heal wounds. They truly care about America.

I think that the "change" that America needs is a different course than what George Bush is doing. If that leads Obama to pick people who know the ropes, including Clintonites and other insiders, that is fine with me. There will still be a BIG change when Obama becomes President, and I want him to surround himself with knowledgeable people. I don't want him to surround himself with people who don't know the Washington scene. Hillary would be a wonderful addition to his administration. The Clinton name is very well respected the world over.

At first I was resistant only because I believed that Clinton could be a more powerful and independent force within the U.S. Senate. But, having a few days to think about it, I believe that it is probably the best thing for her and more importantly, for the country.

What a flattering photo of Sen. Clinton!?! And, how upset the Obama True Believers must be! Yes, I fully support Obama's appt of Clinton as SOS!!!

She'd be insane to accept.
If, God forbid, the empty suit lays an egg, she'll play hell challenging him if she's the Secretary of State.
(I sincerely hope he succeeds, just suggesting a practical approach from her point of view.)

I support the appointment of Sen. Clinton as the Sec'y of State. And, I have been particularly annoyed at the coverage of Hillary's vetting for this position, and the associated finger-pointing at leaks. Seems that the Obama camp ("Obama transition aides") has leaked every other single appointed advisor or Cabinet post before the official announcing, and sometimes even before the vetting has begun. (So who IS (are) leaking probable appointments before they are formally announced? Could it be Janet N.'s staff?? Tom Daschle's?? I think not.)

The most to gain from these latest leaks? Clinton-haters ... stirring up trouble and distrust ... those who made up a significant number of Obama's inner circle during the campaign. And, now, the beauty of it (from their point of view) is that they can attempt to turn tables (with an assist from the media) and say Bill or Hillary (or their inner circles) did it!!

Imagine, if you will, the Obama staff counterparts to Christopher ... the writer/British/anti-Clinton guy who has been making the cable rounds, Katrina vander Who, Maureen Dowd, and even David Axelrod himself spinning and churning in their personal (hells) cubicles/offices at the idea of a Clinton in Obama's cabinet!! How angry are they at their guy for even bringing the possibility of this nomination up??? And, for it actually to be "on track" and becoming a reality??? Surely, they thought, President Clinton would balk at his Foundation monies and speaking engagements being vetted/disclosed. (Hmmm, perhaps there was nothing to hide at all, despite all of the rumor and innuendo.)

How the Obama insiders, the Clinton-haters, those who could not stop bashing the Clintons even as the Presidential election results were being counted, are quietly pleased, as the leaks they made are now attributed to the Clintons. This is their first test at passively aggressively controlling the agenda of their guy, as all staffs will attempt to do. Fortunately, Obama is smarter than they are, and they will not be successful in their attempt.

I think Bill Richardson, with all this diplomatic and international experience, would have been a better choice for Secretary of State. I like Hilary and I think she would have made a better Secretary for Health and Human Services. But in this battle... Bill should have won.

Seems to me Clinton could do more from the Senate, where she is assured a job as long as she wants it. And she would be positioned to run for Governor of New York someday if she chose. Besides, I would think Obama would need her in the Seante to help his legislation along.
The "Team of Rivals" thing seems attractive, but even Lincoln had problems with some of his former rivals after putting them in key jobs.

Hillary Clinton is an ambitious joke! She graduated from law school and has since had limited law experience. She pushed Bill into the gov. mansion so she could push him into the White House so that she could ride his coat tails to the Senate. She tries to portray herself as an independent woman but she is the oldest cliche in the book: she let a man get her where she is. Clintons govern by the weather, not conviction of morals or principals. Of course she chose NY for her "home" state: they are the only people dumb enough to elect her. And now the whole country will pay for their ignorance.

It is laughable to criticize Hillary for little or no law experience after she graduated from law school when SHE HAS MORE LAW EXPERIENCE THAN OBAMA AND YOU SUPPORTED HIM FOR PRESIDENT. And it is also laughable to criticize Obama's choice for his cabinet. Are you saying that Obama has POOR JUDGMENT??? LOL

It seems like "back to the future" --- A third Clintonian term in the making. Did endorsing "Change" mean supporting and bringing back the "Clintonian Team"? And, while we are at it let us not forget the "Bank Deregulation" enacted during the end of Clinton's term --- the one's that removed the "safeguards" imposed after the great depression (surprise banking crises), --- also let us not forget free trade, NAFTA, mega mergers, etc.
